For those of you who want to watch Hindi shows to learn Hindi but do not have so much time to watch whole films, you can watch serials with English subtitles on youtube courtesy of www.desi9.com.  They are split into about 10 minute sections.

Sadly, that website and its youtube account are gone.

I would have liked to have a look at the serials, since my Hindi isn't really good enough to watch them without subtitles, and I'd really wanted to try and watch some of these serials. Films take up more time than I can afford on most days.

Does anyone know other sources for Hindi serials (with subtitles) on the internet?

You might consider getting satlelight televison if possilbe.  I believe Dish Network gets stations that run the serials with subtitles for out of country based audiences.  I know it is a bummer to have to pay so much money, but there are not many alternatives out there that I know of to that.

Did you want to watch a particular one? I know some currently airing ones are being subbed and available online.

No, just asking in general - I don't know any of those serials, so I'd take what I can get.  Smiley

Some are very upto date like Iss Pyar ko Kya Naam Doon? http://indiatvforums.com/forumdisplay.php/13-Iss-pyaar-ko-kya-naam-doon

Pavitra Rishta - http://desirippers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=266

Punar Vivah - good show but oh so slow... http://desirippers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=487

This one is no longer airing but was very popular, great chemistry between the leads. I am not sure if every episode is 100% subbed.

I've used Viki to watch Korean dramas, but they have TV from all over the world. The subtitles are all written by members of the community, so English subs may or may not be available.
