This just sounds hilarious.  Grin Though I'm sure it would lose its allure quickly once the novelty wore off... Wink

Dwarf-tossing at Windsor strip club draws fans, critics

WINDSOR, Ont. — Hundreds cheered loudly at a Windsor strip club Saturday night, as a local dwarf dressed in a baby costume was catapulted through the air, over and over again.

Both locals and out-of-towners took part in the dwarf-tossing competition at Leopard’s Lounge & Broil, a bar in Windsor’s west end. This was the second time in a decade the club hosted the event that has created international hype and hundreds signed up to participate.

The dwarf, a Windsor resident whose stage name is Tripod, refused an interview and was not interested in disclosing any details of his life.

In pairs, participants took hold of a harness that was attached to the dwarf and threw him as far as they could. The club was packed to capacity and the boisterous crowd laughed, clapped, and applauded while the four-foot, eight-inch man was chucked across the stage. Five air mattresses were laid out to ensure a safe landing for Tripod.

This reminded me of Peter Dinklage's acceptance speech at some recent award show, highlighting the plight of a dwarf thrown without his consent, and left paralyzed, apparently inspired by similar events.

Wow, that is just utterly terrible. I had never heard of this sort of thing before and am completely unaware of an event like this taking place elsewhere or before, so I had no idea it must have occurred elsewhere and led to such a terrible result. Suffice it to say my response to this story would have been quite different had I known.

I can see how throwing someone around just because they're short would be dehumanizing, so I guess it's not much of a surprise this is occurring in a strip club...

I have been watching HBO's "Life is Short" with Warwick Davis (he was in the Harry Potter films and the star of the Lucas film "Willow").  It is a mockumentary about his life as a Dwarf/Actor/Agent for other dwarves.  It is NOT politically correct at all and is reminiscent of "Curve Your Enthusiasm" with Larry David in that sense.  This is a Ricky Gervais/Steve Merchant show, the other one is "An Idiot Abroad." which I kind of find semi amusing.

Well anyway the third episode started out with a dwarf being used as a bowling ball.

There are a series of posts but this one in particular,  where I would like to succintly comment: People are WEIRD!! Smiley
Nice movie called The Station Agent -- watched it the other day on TV -- about a dwarf who is (duh! Smiley) the station agent -- more about his relationship with other people and his expectations of life as a result of his smallness than about his job.
