This is an "large-scale love story" from Karan Malhotra, the director of the Agneepath remake.  The leading lady has not been decided yet; Katrina Kaif has been rumored but supposedly she didn't get along with the director when shooting her item number for Agneepath.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/bollywood/news-interviews/Shuddhi-is-a-large-scale-love-story-Karan-Johar/articleshow/18809039.cms

I may or may not like the end result, but since I have avoided Guzarish and Kites because I pretty much KNEW I wouldn't like the end result, and am ambivalent about checking out Agneepath with its reputation for grimness...well, this and Bang Bang (Knight and Day remake) seem like an improvement on his recent career decisions, is all I'm saying.

There's been a bunch of news items claiming this is the Immortals of Meluha adaptation; the director showed up on twitter to state that it is not: https://mobile.twitter.com/KaranMalhotra21/status/311027790940102657?p=v

If this is indeed true, then it could be fabulous - Kareena Kapoor rumored to have signed to star opposite Hrithik in Shuddhi -

It became pretty official when 2 days ago Dharma Productions "accidentally" tweeted that Hrithik and Kareena are coming together in a film along the lines of Immortals of Meluha titled Shuddhi, only to delete it a minute later clarifying that Shuddhi is not based on Immortals of Meluha and that it was a mistake on part of their Digital Agency.
But they never bothered to deny Kareena's inclusion, lol

...Then again, perhaps we spoke too soon. Now it's Anushka Sharma..

I want to be excited for this but, meh. Very few women look good next to Hrithik, and Kareena and Anushka aren't among them. I'd love to see a film with him and Deepika, though Undecided

First off, the last thing I'd heard on this was Dharma denying the Anushka rumor and insisting no female lead had been cast yet.

Meh, I wouldn't mind Anushka with Hrithik-bubbly women make good foils for him sometimes (see Koi Mil Gaya), and I wouldn't mind seeing a "girl next door" type end up with the male equivalent of Aish/Helen of Troy/Hema Malini.  But she's not the kind of thing Dharma would go after for the female lead of a big, glamorous project.

Kareena's PR just told me that Kareena's confirmed this one.
Now unless Bebo herself is out of the loop, I'd say its pretty much confirmed she's in it and Johar will make an announcement probably after Ye Jawani Hai Diwani is outta the way.

The guessing game continues. The latest, apparently from Karan Malhotra, is that it's not Kareena or Anushka.
