Akshaye Khanna has the cutest smile.
AND of course he is a very good, underrated actor...who is very good looking. So let`s start a thread.
Here`s a list of movies I`ve seen with him (still looking forward to Hulchul):
Taal
- Not a good movie, but the music is great, and Akshaye is looking cute
Dil Chahta Hai
- one of my favourite movies
Humraaz
- Akshaye as a villain, I didn`t like the story and Bobby Deol
Deewangee
- a good thriller, remake of Primal Fear
Hungama
- very funny comedy
LOC Kargil
-
Deewaar
- entertaining movie with good acting
Bollywood/Hollywood
- a sweet special appeareance

I think Akshaye is probably one of the best actors in the industry. He can make any role believable, and he never overdoes it. In Taal, his little "twitches" of joy when he saw Ash were so funny, and kind of cute. DCH was a great movie for him, he stood out in his storyline, even though Aamir had quite a huge chunk of the movie. Humraaz is one where he looks pretty cool, I thought. I liked his hair in Bardaasht. Deewangee, he was the perfect foil for Ajay's awesomely awesome character. A great movie, I thought. I haven't seen LOC, but he was pretty good in Border.

Also, I have a new 2 in 1 DVD with Kudrat and DSKR! Yay!

Hey, John Malkovich and Telly Savalas never got stopped by absence of hair. All Akshaye has to do is pursue acting in a convinced way.

Akshaye is one of my favourite actors too. Who said he was average looking i rate him high than Arjun!. Predictably i loved him in DCL. His sensitive and introverted character of Sid was the most appealing in the movie (even more than Saif's Sameer). I even loved Taal because of him and his adorable smile in Taal se taal mila. He really does deserve much more credit for his acting abilities! I can't wait to watch Hulcul

I like Akshaye Khanna, I've only seen him in Taal and DCH, but I liked him in both. I saw him in Mohabbat too, but I can't remember the movie except for this one song. He's not a favourite, but I definitely do not hate him.

Akshaye is filming a movie in South Africa, dealing, I believe, with Ghandi's relationship with his son.... Somehow, I think Anil Kapoor is connected with it, too, maybe as a producer. I'll see if I can find a link and add it.
Akshaye is also rumored to be thinking of starting a production company himself.
You want Akshaye eye-candy, you have to see Mohabbat....mmmm

Somewhere I read that he was already there filming, but I haven't found that one again, so far. Sounds like an interesting film.

Gandhi's relationship with his son...mm, sounds interesting. It was, from my knowledge, rather ambiguous and complex (whose relationship with their parents is simple after all?!). I'm doing an essay (entirely self-researched) for history titled: "To what extent was Gandhi responsible for Indian independence?". It's fun to research, but is taking me ages
. Woah ok I think I've gone off-track here, so back on the topic....
Which is Akshaye Khanna, whom I love so much. I think I fell in love with him in DCH - that sensitive, philosopher-type character can sweep me off my feet any day. Such a mature person, but had his flaws. Very realistic portrayal. Taal was okay, but I think I fell asleep when I was watching it first but then I think I was only 14 then and hated Hindi movies. So that might've explained it - I might give it a try one of these days. Humraaz was fantastically acted out...I never saw any of those twists coming! Yes, agreed, very underrated actor. I do have one complaint - and that is he doesn't do enough films that do him justice!

Arwen, I agree he is underated and a very talented actor. In my opinion he owned Dil Chatha Hai. I love Aamir and Saif but found myself drawn to his character. I loved him in Hul Chul and bought Hungama and I'm waiting to watch it. Because I do like his acting I'll work my way through all his films. I also think his smile is very cute

Sanjay Chhel to direct Akshaye?
After the success of HUNGAMA and HULCHUL, the extremely choosy Akshaye Khanna may finally give his nod to another film. Reportedly, producer Vijay Galani [AJNABEE, HULCHUL, BARDAASHT, BACHKE REHNA RE BABA] has signed writer-director Sanjay Chhel [KHOOBSURAT, KYAA DIL NE KAHAA] for his next venture, which is expected to star Akshaye in the lead.
"I've liked a particular story that Chhel narrated, but believe me we haven't finalized any actor so far. The project is very much in the infancy stages right now," Galani informs me.
Chhel elaborates, "The film will star one lead character and three leading ladies, but we haven't signed Akshaye or anyone thus far. In fact, while discussing a project, you think of the probable names that'd suit the roles. But we've yet to finalize the nitty-gritties first."
Incidentally, Chhel is back to writing in a big way. In fact, he is associated with MAINE PYAR KYUN KIYA [dialogue], KYUNKI [screenplay, dialogue] and JO BOLE SO NIHAAL [dialogue], prestigious projects all.

I like Akshaye a lot, even though I'm not sure why. I don't find him very good looking and that certain sad look seems to be glued to his face even at times when it doesn't fit. I think that's why I like Hulchul so much, that's where it's the least noticable and he seems to be at his most active.
But yeah, all complaints I have about him, there is still something about him that makes him just sooo likable. He also seems to be the kind of person who chooses his projects with care.

Subhash Ghai signs Mallika Sherawat!
After Bachke Rehna Re Baba's not-so-impressive run at the box office, the industry is abuzz with the rumours that Mallika's in-your-face sexuality and career will soon be a thing of past. Wait till the lady strikes back in her new venture; none other than Subhash Ghai has signed her for his next project to be directed by Satish Kaushik.
The untitled project will have two actresses, for the second lead slot Ayesha Takia has been finalized. Unlike bold and brazen characters in her previous movies, Mallika plays a warm and bubbly girl in this movie and will star opposite
Akshaye Khanna
.
Sanjay Chel has written the script. Anupam Kher, Rajpal Yadav and Sunil Shetty are being considered for other characters of this big budget comedy.
A double whammy for Satish Kaushik, who feels its like a dream come true to work with people he has been keen to work with as he gets to work i.e. Mallika Sherawat and Subhash Ghai.
The film goes on floors in August and will be shot in Mumbai and Dubai.

VERY COOL NEWS!
I have seen Autograph and it's a beautiful movie!

Akshaye in 'Autograph' remake
http://www.indiafm.com/scoop/05/jul/2007akshaye/index.shtml
By Taran Adarsh, July 19th 2005 - 0930 hrs IST
Guess the name of 'the film' every actor is trying to lay his hands on? It's the Tamil blockbuster AUTOGRAPH, which has been awarded the prestigious National Award along with VEER-ZAARA for best film providing wholesome entertainment. Almost every actor in Bollywood showed a keen interest to enact the main lead in this film, but the role has finally landed in Akshaye Khanna's lap.
“Yes, it's an amazing script, I am gung ho about the film,” Akshaye informs me on the sets of 36 CHINA TOWN at Pathumthani, Bangkok, Thailand. Although the Hindi title as well as the three leading ladies aren't finalized yet, Anees Bazmee, who had directed Akshaye in DEEWANGEE, will direct the Hindi remake.
You may find this hard to believe, but Akshaye went to watch the Tamil hit at a South Mumbai preview theatre with a lot of apprehensions. “I don't understand the language [Tamil] and if you don't really understand what's unfolding on screen, how are you going to be convinced about that film?” Akshaye makes a point.
But he was hooked the moment the screening [AUTOGRAPH] commenced. “I had an interpreter sitting right next to me and I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. It's an incredible movie, one of the most mind-blowing films I've seen in my life. The moment the screening ended, I told Anees that let's get started immediately,” the excitement shows when Akshaye tells me this.
Another film that has Akshaye excited is the Anil Kapoor-produced, Feroze Khan-directed film MAHATMA VERSUS GANDHI. “Mark my words, it'll rank amongst the most amazing films produced in Bollywood. I am not allowed to speak much at this stage, but I can tell you with conviction that Feroze Khan's name will be mentioned in the same breath as Aditya Chopra, Karan Johar and Sanjay Leela Bhansali once this film releases,” the normally reticent Akshaye seems all charged up at this stage.
I prod him to shed more light on the film. “It's made in two languages -- Hindi and English. The English version will make a round of festivals before it hits the screens… The film explores the relationship between Mahatma Gandhi and his son,” he states.
Meanwhile, Akshaye is embroiled in a controversy vis-a-vis his opting out of Sanjay Gupta's ZINDA. “I don't want to talk about the issue. I can defend my move [of opting out], but that'll lead to unnecessary controversies. ZINDA is a closed chapter as far as I am concerned,” the supremely talented actor states. The thorough gentleman that Akshaye is, he did divulge the reasons to us, but swore us to secrecy at the same time!

Hmm I wonder who my casting would be.
Amrita Rao does sound like a good choice for the school girl!
For the dancing girl Bhoomika does sound like a good choice too, but I'm not crazy about her so... who else could do the job?... Can't think of a better choice! Maybe I'll like her better after this!
And for the city girl I would see Manisha or Urmila, but they might be too old for the part. What about Vasundhara Das? But I don't really like her either.. .what's with me today?! LoL

The casting for the first two girls has to be fresh faces IMO, like in the original. I'd choose Bhumika Chawla or Amrita Rao for the third girl.

Is Akshaye Khanna the new Ghai guy?
No two ways about it, Subhash Ghai did manage a fine performance from Akshaye Khanna in Taal. At hindsight that somewhere sowed the seeds of a lasting liaison between the maker and his muse. Akshaye Khanna has been penciled in for not one but 2 projects from the Mukta banner.
Besides doing the Abbas-Mustan comic thriller, 36 China Town where he costars with Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapur, the elusive actor has also been confirmed for Satish Kaushik's Mallika Sherawat starrer, Shaadi Se Pehle, once again a Mukta Arts product. The last time we saw Akshaye was in the Priyadarshan hit, Hulchul. “I have always maintained that I do scripts that interest me. Both China Town and Shaadi Se Pehle fall into the same bracket. So I am looking forward to the shooting” he replies.
And what does he have to say about his infamous delay at the launch of China Town, “You know how it is, traffic snarls” he grins. And what about the anokhee pairing of Mallika and him, “Well, that's what the director has decided upon and I stand by that. I have heard Mallika make some very interesting remarks. I am looking forward to working with her” the shy Khanna excuses himself.
Actually it comes as no surprise to us when Subhash Ghai decided on Mallika Sherawat. Director Satish Kaushik who had earlier made Badhaai Ho Badhaai for Mukta was last heard saying, “Mallika Punjabi mirchi ki tarah hain, ekdum hot!”

Akshaye has always been a great actor. I don't understand the hair situation either, but he always gives 100%, so everything else doesn't matter.
I've seen him in Border, Taal, DCH, Humraaz, Deewangee, Hungama, LOC and Hulchul. Also the s.a. in Bollywood/Hollywood. Most of his films are good.
