A light hearted snake girl group frolicking in the forest dance. There is a Jeetendra look-alike lurking in the foggy hinterland.

A surprisingly lacklustre snake performance from Aruna Irani assisted by Danny Denzongpa.  Quite a nicely understated snake outfit but no where near enough eyeliner to be the least bit convincing and she has done a better Look in many other films when not even pretending to be a snake.  Sigh.

Shashi and Rekha don't look overly impressed either.

The only thing I know about this snake dance is that is is performed by yesteryear southern item girl Jayamalini.  No film, no song title known (so if anyone can help out...)

I think it comes under a Work Dance classification given it takes place in a snake haven, or possibly Mating.  In any case, they look happy.   I'm not sure I understand the purpose of the goldfish that occasionally swims into shot Huh  There are some nice moves from the snake acolytes though.

Hi jenni
I don't know which film it is from, but the bloke is Narasimha Raju (starred opposite Chiru in Punnami Nagu so clearly has a snake affinity). I had a quick look to see if I could identify the film but I didn't spot anything that seemed immediately to match.

Thanks bollywhirl, at least part of the mystery solved!

This snake dance is from the now Tamil Nadu CM, Jayalalitha, in more innocent days.  Judging from the emerging from a pot and the fullness of clothing coverage, I'm guessing this one can be classified as Fake Snake.  However, her costume is nice and scaly and she gives The Look a reasonable go.

Well the subtle signs are there
(a)  Man dressed enough like a snake to make me keep watching
(b)  Item girl Silk Smitha (initially looking remarkably overdressed it has to be said but don't be alarmed because that passes)
(c)  A few 'traces of snake' moves
and if you wait for a little while, snake ornaments are eventually revealed for conclusive identification and we have ourselves a Mating Dance

No snake dance thread would be complete without Chiranjeevi in silver bike shorts writhing around with Madhavi in this excellent mating dance.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1sV-slAP48&feature=related

Song:  Ragulutondi Mogali Poda
Movie:  Khaidi

If it looks vaguely familiar it might be because it is the original version of the Jeetendra/Madhavi dance from Qaidi posted earlier in the thread.

NEW FAVE THREAD!!!  Grin
And this is *before* I've had a chance to link to the actual vids. (No YouTube at work. Sad)

The classifications alone are enough to convince me that this is the thread I'll be lurking in for the immediate future, especially since I can't buy any of the snake movies I dearly wish I could due to very sad but strict Movie-Purchasing Diet.

I can't wait for the weekend!  Grin

That was very impressive!
Even better is the youtube description: "In this song both Chiranjeevi and Madhavai both expresses their romatic feels each other. They swings their bodies like snakes. Snake article is most asset element to this song."

I had really thought about it, but Ben Stiller and the Cobra Team's snake entrance in Dodgeball (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1UO6X0KRjc) steals some movies from the classic snake dance.

Nice; it also looks like 1/3rd of the moves could be incorporated into an exercise routine.  Wink

A refreshingly earthy and enthusiastic snake Mating Dance Kannada style.  It must be noted that the Kannada subspecies, whilst maintaining traditional clothing styles, incorporate eyeliner (and also apparently eyeshadow) in the male of the species, some potentially lethal stomach ornamentation on the female, and some region specific moves (chicken necks/eyelash flutter/bottom pat combo).

Yay!!! Finally saw a snake dance!

I just watched Guide last night. The movie was ruined by the ending, but the first half was pretty great, including the SNAKE DANCE. Yes, definitely a Discovering Your Inner Snakey Nature.

From the heretofore unmentioned Cosmic Snake Dance classification (Or perhaps even The Amazing Race:  Snakes) comes this 2002 example .  Unfortunately neither of these snakes are able to dance, so much of it is more 'snake posturing'. When they do dance it is kind of wriggly and kind of hilarious.

Time for an excellent and cheesy Confrontation dance with some striking a (snakey) pose and a convincing murderous Look.

There are also some impressive eyebrows on the opposition.

The combo of silver ruched 80s frock and snake head gear was quite striking too. Perhaps a 'Snake at a Hen's Night' ensemble?

I think this one nicely captures snake romance from the snake perspective.  Excellent snake sets and some very flexible snake movement and even a couple of snake's eye view camera angles. Nice. Chiru really is a fabulous snake (and such commitment to his craft - those contact lenses seem to be causing some irritation but he just writhes his way through the bloodshot eyes barrier)

Can't you see this technology used in a new snake dance?
