Aah, that Abhishek is such a sensible guy.  Aishwarya is a lucky woman.

I don't really like the name, but to each their own.

I was hoping to be blown away by the name...after all the suspense.

LOL Abhilasha? Come on Indian media you could have made up something better than that! Tongue

They like combined Abhi and Aishwarya's name and threw an L in there....

It's not a made up name, it's an actual name but not very common.

All I can say is thank God for Twitter. Before celebrities didn't have a quick, easy, and widely spread way to refute rumors and confirm things unless you saw them in person on a televised interview, because we all know printed news can rarely be trusted. And I'm glad Big B is so prevalent on Twitter and quick to cut down the nonsense.

Is there still no official announcement on Beti B's name? I have heard Aaliya and Abhilasha as rumoured names, but these appear to have both been rubbished by the Bachchan family.

I just had this image of the Bachchan family sitting around every night playing Boggle, using only the letters in "Abhishek" and "Aishwarya", and generating thousands of possible names.

^ As an NRI girl who grew up in Los Angeles with the name "Radhika" (because "Gauri" was a nickname from my mom added much later) I can say that people in the US are going to have a lot of trouble pronouncing that. It seems lovely though. My little sis was named "Aradhana" and it sounds kind of similar.
[With our names we stuck out like sore thumbs in the NRI LA Punjabi community, it seemed like every Punjabi girl was named Mona or Nikki or Meena or something like that:p]

I know it hasn't been confirmed yet, but I love it Smiley it sounds so pretty and poetic and it's obviously pretty unique. It might usually be a boy's name, but it sounds feminine so Smiley

That is actually the absolute perfect name. It's very ancient, Sanskrit, and occurs in some verses on the Mother Goddess (Lalita Sahasranamam etc). It means 'primal' or 'the very first'. It's a great name - combo of North and South usage, traditional, unique, and has meaning within the family (the firstborn).

And LA - the West learnt to pronounce Aishwarya after mangling it a billion times - I'm sure they can do Aaradhya. Smiley

Assuming these latest rumours regarding the name are true, I really like the sound of Aaradhya Rai Bachchan.

For some reason....I always cringe when I hear long complicated names for kids.....sure they sound good but it takes the child forever to master the pronunciation and spelling of their names. I have a friend with a third grader daughter Akakshara who decides to go by her nickname kuhu because she is still not confident of how to say her name or how many ak are there. I also have a cousin named Siddharath whose name was changed to Dev as in 2-3 grade he was still having issues with spelling.

I doubt they care how western society pronounces their child's name, it's not like they're living outside of India anyways.

Big B tweeted or blogged earlier about how Ash took Abhishek's name and signs all her autographs as Aishwarya Bachchan, I think the daughter will just be Aaradhya Bachchan. I like the name.  Smiley

If this is true, Then they named her before Agent Vinod's release after all!

But it doesn't seem to be confirmed. Maybe in four more months?  Grin
