I was wondering whether anybody could recommend any online Hindi language newspapers or columnists?  I was always recommended to read newspapers and columnists in French to help with my acquisition of that language, and I imagine it would be the same with Hindi.  Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Try reading Navbharat Times. It can be a little tabloidish but it's a good experience.

Thanks for the responses, guys.

I checked out Navbharat Times, and it's interesting though I'm somewhat disappointed at the quality of their joke section.  Smiley  I usually don't find it funny at all!  Ah well, c'est la vie.

That Hindi samaachar website is quite a cool find, Lauren.  I guess that's a Hindi news aggegator website?  Anyway, very cool.

Do either of you have a particular columnist that you prefer?

Unfortunately, I don't really follow any one columnist in particular. I try to read stories from different topics each time I read an article.

My favourite site is
http://www.bbc.co.uk/hindi/
Its layout is attractive and clear, the combination of headlines and photos helps you find the articles that might interest you, you can choose between latest news worldwide, India, Pakistan, China, sports, entertainment, business, science, multimedia etc., and then again between texts, video-clips, audio, picture galleries with comments etc., and with the articles you often get links to older information on the same topic, or other news in the same field of interest.
I usually browse the headlines and pick out one or two texts a day for closer reading, which implies looking up several words on shabdkosh.com or google translator.
When I started about a year ago it was hard work, and more often than not I gave up after ten lines or so, but meanwhile I can manage whole texts and don't need to look up so many words.

Filmfare now has a Hindi language edition! I can't think of a more enjoyable way to practice reading Hindi. Have inquired whether possible to subscribe from overseas.

Unfortunately, the publisher of Filmfare has indicated "We regret there is no international distribution of Filmfare Hindi"  Cry
I thought Induna had magazines but couldn't find them when I looked on their site. Anyone know of any other source??
