Aamir Khan

From Yaadon ki Baaraat (1973) directed by his uncle Nasir Hussain (Caravan, Teesri Manzil fame), so Aamir was just about eight. Look for the familiar Aamir at 1:44. BTW, this is the only song I know where someone had to be excused to go use the restroom, undoubtedly to enhance the cuteness factor:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VN_sqU7vgM

Neetu Singh

Those not very familiar with Neetu Singh may know her son Ranbir Kapoor and husband Rishi. As a child, Neetu starred in a few films as Baby Sonia. Later she became a popular actress and was often paired with future husband Rishi. Here she is in Do Kaliyaan (1968):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4B3e8et1vk

A few years later she was introduced as a grown up in, whadyaknow, Yaadon ki Baaraat:

Urmila Matondkar

As a nine year in Masoom (1983) - she is the older girl:

Hrithik Roshan

This video shows clips of him in songs from 3 movies: Bhagwan Dada, Aasha, Aap Ke Deewane, all as a child. One is with Rajnikanth... LOL, and he does get to show off his dancing skills! Now that's an early start!!

Ha ha I always think this song was one of Aamir's best roles. It's too cute when he rejoins the song after going to the bathroom! He looks younger than 8 though, doesn't he?

Not child artiste territory, but I believe the skinny guy playing the "girl" in this song from Aao Pyar Karen is Mac Mohan, and the spectator in the stripey sweater vest is of course a twentysomething Harihar Jariwala, then billed as Sanjay Kumar and soon to change his stage name to Sanjeev Kumar.

He does indeed and he very well could be if the song was filmed a year or two before the film was released.

Neetu Singh was born in 1958 (according to IMDB) so she was supposedly 14-15 when that YkB number was filmed. Doesn't she seem older than that or could she have been exceptionally well developed for her age?

That's priceless. I bet he addresses Aishwarya as "Aunty" anytime they meet. It sure would make me feel better to have her on my side of the age divide. Smiley

Not exactly a song but an ADORABLE Pepsi commercial with Shahid as a kid in 1998.

Pleease tell me he wasn't in a movie named after a Pepsi ad slogan. Priceless. Grin

Karan: Have you ever analyzed why things have a strange kind of a vibe [around Kareena]?
Priyanka: I don’t know, I think I’m very important in her life somehow.
Karan: *shakes head* Be specific please.
Priyanka: Um, she just always has a lot to say about me. So I’m presuming I’m important in her life.
~
Q: So Priyanka you open up the newspaper and see Kareena saying, 'Heroine will be better than Fashion so who cares about a national award.'
Priyanka: Well, I guess if you don't have one... then, sour grapes, what do I say!

He looks like he's between 6 and 7 because of his size and his teeth. You start shedding your milk teeth at about 5-6 if you're early; if you're late, around 7-8 (like me). He has most of his front teeth in so he must be over age 5. Plus he's missing a side tooth, like a canine, in some of the angles (his right side, our left).

In any case: he was so cute! Grin

The noted choreographer Saroj Khan is one of the natch girls accompanying Nutan in this all-female Qawalli from Dil Hi to Hai (1963). She was in her mid-teens when this was filmed. The comments will tell you precisely where to spot her:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJU2tzawprw

Fast forward nearly 45 years and here is Saroj directing her students on the very same song for her TV dance show "Nachle Ve":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XVh4h09Q7Y&feature=related

The song itself was composed by Roshan, Hrithik's grandfather.

This one thanks to the Naach Gaana thread.

There seemed something very familiar about the girl in green sitting in the front row of this song from Ganga Jamuna (1961). Checked IMDB and sure enough, that's a eight year old Aruna Irani in her very first credited film. You'll get a really good look at her towards the end of the song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DUoUULuWNM

This is a more familiar Aruna from Caravan ten years later. She must have dropped out:

Farida Jalal

Probably best known to Bollywhaters as Simran's mom in DDLJ, Farida Jalal started her career as a child artist. Here she is in one of her earliest films Dosti (1964):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8Lfo2CdjgM

A few years later...now a beautiful young woman (playing the piano) in Taqdeer (1967). The delicate voice is that of Usha Mangeshkar, the least well known sister of Asha and Lata:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPfki7lFL04

Farida did appear as a lead in a couple films but her career was mostly relegated to being a character actress.

Sridevi

This one thanks to a recent Gaja Gemini post.

Sridevi started acting in Tamil movies at a very young age. Here she is in her first hindi movie Julie (1975) playing the younger sister of the singer in this song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibu7fj04Oyg&feature=related

A few years later, the more familiar Sridevi as Hawa Hawaii in Mr. India:

Sanjay Dutt

This one thanks to memsaab's blog. A young Sanjay baba as a qawalli singer in Reshma aur Shera - he is to the right of the main singer and the first face shown. The film starred Sunil Dutt in the lead so I am sure a little nepotism was involved. Smiley and I for one am grateful to papa Dutt for having done that.

Fast forward 21 years, and here he is as a certified lovable badass in Khalnayak:

Two memorable heroines of hindi cinema were once both child artists at about the same time:

Meena Kumari

As an 8-year old Baby Meena in Bahen (1941):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1DaF3hAKE0

Such was her stature as an actress that in 1963 she was the only one nominated for the Filmfare Best Actress Award for four of her films. That is a feat unrivaled by anyone to this day. She won (naturally) for this one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7sADAXyI-M

Madhubala

Baby Mumtaz (that was her real name) in Basant (1942):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZ-R2bn76bk

Even at that early age, she reportedly was the only breadwinner for her large family. :

Nanda

A very young and very plain looking Nanda in her first film Toofan aur Diya (1956):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufMyVfDzDQk&feature=relmfu

Here she is in the very height of her stardom oozing sensuality. This lovely song is from Jab Jab Phool Kile (1965) composed by Kalyanji-Anandji:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZCdSmTxXRo

Nanda was extremely shy and introverted. Her good friend, Waheeda Rehman, finally convinced her to get married. She was engaged to marry none other than the famous director Manmohan Desai who, unfortunately and rather thoughtlessly, died before the marriage could take place.

Sharmila Tagore

This isn't a song but I thought you guys might want to see a 16-year old Sharmila. Here she is in her debut film - Satyajit Ray's Apur Sansar (aka The World of Apu, 1959):

Someone once told me that one of the little girl who fake cries in this parody song from Mr. India became a famous star...but I haven't been able to figure out if she really is a star and if so, who she is.
