Too many threads just go off onto irrelevant political rants. How do I remove a thread from a 'new replies to your posts' feed?

As far as I know, 'new replies to your posts' is just a list of threads that you've posted in, which has a new reply in it.  You can't really 'unsubscribe' unless you delete the posts you had in that thread.

But if you click the "mark as read" button, it will think you've read all threads with new replies, and when the activity on those threads ends, they'll stop popping up.
