The People Who Annoy You

Two today. We have a neighbor who annoys the hell out of me. This time he is working on his car. Where does he park the other one? In front of his house? Nooo. In front of ours. It has been there for a couple of days. It inconveniences my sister, my clients and now we didn't get our front street swept. I am just angry more than it should justify. I feel intruded upon.

The other is how can people be so ignorant? A person bounced a second check. Did pay it and fees both times. But then what I have heard so many times from people like the now x owner of the store. "I don't understand. I check my balances on line every day!" How in the world does the bank now if you wrote a check and it isn't there yet? Keep a paper register and stay off on line "balances" ! I am dyslexic and can figure that one out!

I love it! These people have annoyed me for 20 years and I try so hard to just ignore it. The worst of it was when I was doing yard work and he would stand in his back yard and bark at me like a dog. I did get upset and have words over that one. He thought it was funny. I am not sure he is all there. We call him barky boy. He is in his late 70's with teenage boy twins. We think his brain melted. His wife was 48 and he was in his  60's when through the miracle of modern medicine they had twins. Both boys are autistic. It is not a happy house.

My brother has recently been annoying me soooo much. He just started college after an 8 year break from high school and cannot stop bragging about how good a student he is and how much more initiative he shows and how much more mature he is than the other students, (of course you are, you're 8 years older than them!!). Recently, he starting printing out his assignments in the morning, which is really annoying because the printer is in my room. Usually, I let it be, but when he turns on the computer and printer at 7 in the morning, and leaves it on for the printer to make all of its wacky noises while he finishes his assignment for 2 hours first, then I'm angry, because I cannot sleep for those 2 hours, and I cannot complain, or turn it off without an argument which I do not want at 7 in the morning while I'm still half asleep!

I think it is admirable to go back to school after a long break - whatever the reason was for the break.  Not a lot of people are willing to make that kind of change in their lives.  But now that he's back in school, he doesn't have to brag about it all the time.  But the printer in the morning?  Ugh.  When I was in HS and my sister was in college she would start typing her papers around midnight every night.  Her room was next to mine and it was awful.  I'm talking about a real 1970's era electric typewriter, not a keyboard!

Or make him use a printer at school? At mine, we get 500 pages a semester as part of our regular fees - they can't be refunded and don't carry over, so I abuse it wildly - I printed out a bunch of B&W pictures of Bollywood stars for my wall.

Roommate whine that is quite minor, considering other things I've dealt with: she doesn't have a lamp on her side of the room, so if she wants light directly on her side, she needs the overhead light.

I have my bedside lamp and the sink lamp (which is softer than the overhead fluorescent) is on my side. I also have a huge fire place screen on my desk, which makes her side darker than mine unless it's the overhead light.

But. Really minor. And she generally only has it on during the day - if she comes in while I'm up in the next few hours, she won't turn it on, since the sink light is on. We're both considerate of each other - when she's asleep and I'm up, I don't turn any lights on if I can help it - just the laptop. But even though I sleep through lights and noise, I'm convinced she doesn't. She's told me she does, and that's most likely true... but whatever.

Why can't he just buy another printer? They are not that expensive anymore!! Even a basic one would suffice. I dont mean to offend but I think it is pretty annoying that he has no respect or consideration for your feelings.

I have an x "friend" like that. She would call and rant about what other people were doing that annoyed her. Never called except when she was annoyed about other people. Always little stuff and none of her business. Her other rant was why nobody would talk to her! I told her she should stop ranting, she called it venting and said she was over it once she finished.  I tried but never got through to her that nobody wanted to hear it unless it was a real problem!

She would call while my father in law was dying and instead of asking how I was, just launch into how her mother, co worker, sister, random driver, coffee shop patrons, etc were driving her nuts.

I finally put her name on the caller ID and stopped answering her calls.

Everything is offensive nowadays. I find it rather annoying too. I guess this doesn't apply to your co-worker but I always say that America is the land of people who are never satisfied with anything.

So very true! I never met so many people with so much and so miserable because it isn't enough! Sometimes I think everybody but me, husband,sister and comedy friend are the only people left who are pretty much happy with what we have and are not on anti depressants! And by standard America we don't have that much.

You don't go on anti-depressants because you're just unhappy with what you have. Depression is real.

Anyway, one thing that annoys me is people who can't seem to have fun without alcohol. Because I don't drink, but have friends who can't seem to do anything without it, you can't seem to do anything else without it being '...can we drink now?' Or 'where should we go tonight?' 'Let's go to a bar.' Like, seriously? That's not the only entertainment in the world.

BONUS POINTS if they then eat the part of your meal you didn't finish, they don't pay their share of the bill to make them feel like they ate less, they make sure to say how 'full' they are, or they make you split dessert when you want one to yourself!

Scenario: friend is on diet and not keeping to it. They still can't shut up about the diet and food. As they plunge their fork in to another doughball and it approaches their mouth, they say 'I really shouldn't be eating this!' Duh! BONUS POINTS if they try to get you to eat some to make them feel better, they go on about how they're going on a run after this or have been good lately (sure), or attempt to salvage the situation by going on about how guilty/fat/greedy they are later as if that will absolve them of their supposed sin.

Women of the world: Eat. Enjoy your food. And for God's sake don't make me hear about any of your weird neuroses.

People who annoy me recently are those who walk side by side on the public pathway and expect you to walk in the mud/wet grass/etc so they can continue to be side by side with two feet between them.  Or those who ride their bicycles on the sidewalk when there is perfectly good, perfectly empty bike path not more than ten feet away, next to the sidewalk!

I was totally laughing reading your post because once upon a time I was completely the annoying girl in Scenario II who desperately needed to work on her STFU game
However I have improved immensely in putting a lid on it and am nowhere near as nauseating to hang out with these days hehe

I must say I am annoyed by those people who ride their bikes for miles while making their dog run on a leash beside them
They coast down hills enjoying the breeze while their poor dog is huffing and puffing to keep up
So horrid! What if their dog has a leg cramps or needs to rest or catch their breath or drink some water?
But no, they make them gallop for blocks on end as they keep cycling

What purplecowmoo said. I get so sick of people eating luscious food while carrying on about it. Shut up and enjoy it or don't eat it!

On the other side, I have a very restricted diet with ingredients and people carry on that "once won't hurt me" The worst was at a funeral where the woman had literally eaten herself to death and her dying message had been to stop eating crap. There was a buffet and lots of crap food and people saying this is a special occasion and it doesn't count. 

Stupid **hole dog owners. Husband is still very sick, but getting a tiny bit better bit at a time. He usually takes the girls as 250 lbs of dog is a bit much for me to handle. Took them anyway the other day. They were so good. They helped me with their harnesses by putting up feet and they are so smart. They didn't try to jump out of the car the way they do with him when I opened the door, they waited, etc.

So we are walking and they are going slow as they seem to know I have a bum foot. This guy has a big dog on a leash sitting at a bench. He gets up and runs over with his dog. I screamed obscenities at him. Neeka, bless her, has issues with other dogs, but turned and looked at me with this air of, mom I know I am supposed to ignore this dog. what do I do? He did back off, as I think I scared him. He is yelling his dog just wants to play. I yell back, my dog doesn't and if she hurts your dog, who gets put down?

Love this one. Seems like you cannot tell a joke or say something, or do something anymore without someone being offended by it. People are too sensitive anymore. There is a difference between being considerate of others feelings and going overboard and walking on eggshells.
