In either Bollywood or SI movies, do you guys take note of distracting details in certain song picturizations?

If so, do you notice the detail every time you watch the song, or are you able to forget about it after a while?

I tend to watch Indian movie songs over and over for dance steps, so I end up noticing so many of these.

Some I have come across again recently:

1) In several yesteryears songs on my Golden Oldies song compilation DVDs, you can see a funny-shaped boom microphone at the top of the frame in the wider shots. I guess they had rectangular ones back then, it doesn't look like the boom-mics of today.

2) In a song from my one of my Actress Hits DVDs (can't remember which one), the actress is jogging across the lawn to meet her guy with an oversize tikka shifting around her forehead. When she stops and turns, her tikka swings and hits her on the side of her head! (I hope that didn't hurt.)

3) In a 1960s song I was watching the other day, the lead actress's shoes changed from various angles while she was waltzing with the lead actor in a ballroom scene. Now I can barely notice the steps in that part, I'm just waiting for her shoes to change color each time!

What distracting details in songs have you noticed?  Grin Smiley

Siddharth's "pants" in Kakinada Kaja from Aata: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTS9GskJVXg.  The first time I watched it I spent the entire time trying to figure out just what exactly they were. Very distracting! Smiley

It's not so much the detail as the whole song, but I basically didn't pay any attention to the dancing in this song from Devadas because I was too busy spotting familiar landmarks and places I've been.  I mean, part of the song was filmed in Mojave, California.  That's less than two hours from where I grew up, and I've driven through Mojave countless times.  So it was really weird to see Mojave show up in a Telugu film.

I notice this every time. In Kali Nagin from Mann, Rani starts off wearing knee high boots but then randomly her shoes change to high heels (at about 1.51) and then she goes back to wearing the boots.

Lol Nayika, you're so right!! I watched the clip to see. At 1:54 you can see her in wedges or maybe small platform-heels, then back to those black knee-highs a little bit later.

I couldn't find a clear online version of Gustakh Nigahein from ASMM, but I like that song. I read on YouTube comments that it's a remake of a Middle Eastern song. Anyway, it's Ritesh and Koena and for the first set of costumes they have her in a green modified-lengha type thing with a high slit on the side. She looks awesome except she has these green bike shorts under her skirt (!!) and then little gold boots on also, which kind of looks odd. I think she would have looked even more cool if she hadn't worn those gold boots. But Ritesh is another story, they put Ritesh in a denim jacket with gold circles on it and a white tank-top underneath! He's a nice-looking guy and everything but the jacket-tank combination is so weird! Here is a pic of what they made him wear:

I like the song and the dancing but the costumes are so distracting. Both RD and KM look really nice in the "Dekha Jo Tujhe Yaar, Dil Main Bajii Guitar" song from the same movie. The distracting detail in that song is that they are dancing in what looks like a mall and lots of peopeople are in the background kind of staring at the whole thing.

Oh well, I love both picturizations anyway and I always watch them when they come on in the music mixes on B4U  Grin Smiley

I adore the songs "Badan Pe Sitare" with Vyjayanthimala, Jaane Chaman with Nanda (Gumnaam), and Begaani Shaadi Main from some black and white movie. I've been watching these three picturizations a lot the last couple days. Lots of distracting details! Shammi K is wearing a bright silver metallic dinner jacket and black tapered pants in BPS, while Nanda's chunney is very asymmetrically draped in Jaane Chaman, and Raj Kapoor has on some odd Charlie Chaplin get-up in Begaani Shaadi Main. Great songs though, and really cute picturizations Grin

I've got two examples:

Dev Anand with his amazing facial hair.  You've seen a handlebar before, now meet the crowbar:

Manoj Kumar was known to hire gymnasts as his cinematographers.  Here is an example.  Look for the excellent reverse somersault at 1:45:

Now, I am not the one to spread baseless rumors (if I say so myself) but it has been noticed by some that the guy driving Shammi's speedboat in this song looks a lot like Saif.  Song was filmed in Beirut, Lebanon in 1967 and Saif was born in 1970.  So the affair - and mind you I am not saying there was one - lasted two years or so.

Get a good look starting 1:50:

P.S. Saifs fondness for fast motorbikes could be just coincidental.

Not one to reinforce baseless rumours, but you know, I think you may be onto something here...

Yes.  Completely agree.  We won't be any part of a baseless, malicious rumor.  Long travel schedule, distant lands, happily married co-star, a suave Phoenician..... in any case, definitely none of our business. In France, such matters of the coeur are considered de rigueur  Then again, Beirut was the Paris of the middle east back then.  There....I digress again.   Sorry.
