Or possibly a little passive-aggressive retaliation for enabling his 6-pack addiction?

I just thought it was some sort of resentment or anger at things---and not just in THIS program or directed specifically at Farah. I've heard it LOTS of times---but yeah, passive-aggressive is the right phrase.

Just my opinion, but I think it's very easy to take scripted jokes too seriously. I'm sure Farah knew exactly what he was going to say, and vice-versa. Haven't you ever watched any of the late-night talk shows on US TV? It's quite expected to trade insults with the host. It's a performance, for entertainment purposes, folks. Nobody appeared one little bit offended to me.

My comment wasn't really about SRK's comments regarding Farah's weight. I thought that was a harmless joke between friends. I felt that his humor with the guestswas a little off. He could have been more gracious.

But I agree with the comments made here, Indians are more blunt when it comes to weight. I have had comments regarding my weight as well in the past: do you get proper food, what will your husband hold on to, etc.

i haven't watched it yet, but isn't the "award" that she presents him with essentially saying that he is p*ssy whipped? "hen pecked husband" or whatever? i mean, in the culture of the US (where i am from, and live) this is not really considered a compliment, i am not sure about india, but it seems like a teensy weensy tongue in cheek/slightly mean spirited thing to call somebody? so maybe it was all about sarcasm? like i said, i haven't watched it, (YET) but i have no doubt it was all scripted to a degree, almost all TV is!

Yes, my point exactly. The whole thing was just for laughs. But he did take the opportunity between the jokes to say some very nice things about women, and the way he feels they deserve to be treated. All in a totally tongue-in-cheek manner.

If you want to watch for yourself, with subtitles: http://www.srkpagali.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=34892

Speaking of that particular episode any comments from anyone on the actual statuette/award farah gave him?  What'd it look like to you guys? It looked to me like a male bent over with a female figure either about to spank him or um.... shove what ever is in her hand up a certain some where.  Or is it just me and I am hopelessly in the gutter?  Embarrassed

No, it's a pun on the traditional RK Films production icon.

The icon is made as a cut out of an iconic scene from one of Raj Kapoor's earliest films - I *think* it was Barsaat(?) which had a scene of him and Nargis, where Nargis to tease him starts leaning back, and he (nervously) has to keep holding her. Legend has it RK loved that silhouette so much he made it the RK Films icon.

SRK's trophy given by Farah had the man and woman in an inverse position, since the theme was "joru ka ghulam". I laughed my head off when I spotted it. Trust Farah to get the details right.

What did you guys think about the episode with Hrithik Roshan? I have to say that I was very moved - mostly by how he spoke straight from the heart, but also by the story itself and the sincerity with which he opened up about so sensitive issues, stuff that he still has to deal with (struggling with stuttering and the fact that he has a double thumb). He has an amazing honesty, inner strength and ease about him, even when baring his vulnerability and fears like this...

I really liked how he got his point across too, that perfection lies in being real. And what he said about getting into character was very interesting:
Quote
You know, like if I’m doing a shot I can either think of a… you know, a performance I can do in this shot so that people will say ‘Vah! Kya shot, yaar!’ or, I can just ask myself ‘If I was a real person, how would I be in this shot? What would I do?’ And that means more, because that becomes imperfect, that becomes real. [...] It’s a combination, na. You take the image of Akbar, but you give him your heart.
I especially loved the part about putting your heart into it <3

I liked the way he talked about his double thumb too:
Quote
‘This is me! I’m a real guy, and in the movies you’re supposed to depict real people! [...] Who says 'I can’t be your friend because you have a double thumb?'‘
And I love Farah for giving the priceless and quick reply ‘Oh Hrithik, I only love you doubly-more!’ Smiley

Hrithik is a true inspiration, he genuinely touched me. I only wish there were English subtitles for this show, I feel I'm missing out on so much...

Hi,
I've just watched this episode here:

http://www.apnicommunity.com/tere-mere-beach-mein/142937-tere-mere-beach-mein-hritik-roshan-kangna-ranaut-26th-september-09-video-update.html

It does have subtitles - in Hindi, as Hrithik keeps speaking English. Is it possible that he has overcome his stammering problem with spontaneous speech only in English, and feels comfortable in Hindi only when he has a script to follow?

Ah, yes the episode with Hrithik was not too difficult to follow for me thanks to him speaking English! What about other episodes of the show, with Abhay Deol and Shahid Kapoor for example - have you seen them anywhere with English subs?

No subs, just the translation of Shahid and Genelia on TMBM on Shahidonline.net.  Click on Media ->Movie Lyrics & Translations ->Other Translations

Abhay's appearance will be translated only if I am paid in SRK gold.  So, what will I get if I translate Abhay's  appearance?  Let the bidding begin.   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I'd be interested to know what these two comments below are referencing.  Clearly I missed it when it happened.

Since apparently, people can't reference and talk about their own experiences and lives, just because it alludes to Aishwarya, I'm now sort of surprised no one has taken offense at Aamir's question/comment/joke to Salman on Dus Ka Dum.  "You should know, why don't you tell us." With the apt and appropriate  facial expression and raise of an eyebrow.

You think Ash doesn't have strong opinions on Salman or Vivek.  The difference is she doesn't spread it all over the media.   Actually Salman has not either except for the recent comment when he was asked if he's ever hit a woman.

But what to get the SRK fan who has everything? If there is some SRK swag you are missing and would like to have please let us know and I will look into getting it for you. If that doesn't work out - would you accept homemade baked goods?

Thank you, guys. Just what I needed this morning.  I was feeling down and just needed to be appreciated. I am grateful for all your offers but I cannot accept, sorry.  I will, however, accept gratitude and appreciation for all my hard work, that is , watching Abhay and Neil when I could be watching SRK, again and again and again.   Grin
dust_devil, Simran_Singh, thank you for your offers.  I don't have a lot of SRK stuff but I cannot accept anything from you, stuff wise.  Now if you were to post some videos and pictures in the appropriate threads, I wouldn't mind at all.

I watched a bunch of these on youtube, and thought I'd share my thoughts.  Smiley

First of all, I completely agree that though Farah is witty, her voice is not really talk-show worthy.  But I love the idea that each guest brings a personal item to be auctioned off for charity.  I also like the Rs. 1 lakh contributions that the show makes to the guest's charity of choice.  The ordinary people stories are moving, but sometimes I can't help but forward through them.  I'm clearly only watching for the celebs  Roll Eyes.  Finally, the draw that they have where an audience member gets to come up and accept a hamper from the guests - anyone else think WTF?  The girls usually come up, smile, take it, and go right back.  If that were me, I'd at least let out a scream for getting to shake hands with the celebrity.  **Sigh** I guess I'm just too much of a fan-girl.

Salman & his mom:
It was a sweet episode, but at a point, the mama's boy stuff got a little nauseating.  No grown man should be that dependent on his mother.  That's actually an aspect of indian culture that makes me unhappy (I'm indian and have personal reasons for saying this, so hope no one takes offense).
I loved the part where his mom says she's too scared to get in a car with Salman, and he goes, "what are you doing?! you do realize there's an accident case against me?"  I also found his description of his jail experiences endearing, like the time he said he wouldn't eat or drink much - not because he was depressed, but because the toilet situation was so terrible.
Other highlights: His explanation of why he was always late to movie sets, and him telling the girl that asked him to marry her that she'd be his daughter's age.
Finally, I've always thought that Salman is at his best when he's interacting with ordinary people.  He just seems like a genuinely caring person, and is very entertaining when he's being himself.

Vivek and Ritesh
I didn't really get the Ritesh controversy.  I like Ritesh, but he was overshadowed by Vivek, so I don't remember much of what he said.
There was a lot of heated debate on this forum about what Vivek said on the show, etc.  I don't get what was so bad about it.  I thought that everything he said was well within his rights, and he did it tactfully enough - without really placing blame on anyone.  I did find it tacky when Farah asked "Did you ever get over her?"

K.Jo and Sonam
I thought Sonam looked gorgeous.  I find it unbelievable that she put on 40 kg in 4 months.  I'm glad they shared their stories of being overweight, but I wish they would have talked a bit about how they ultimately lost that weight.
My heart went out to the guy that lost his gf/wife because her parents thought he was too fat...

Shahid and Genelia
Love Shahid, but did anyone notice how many times he cut off Genelia?  I don't remember much from this episode.  He said a few times clearly that he doesn't have a girlfriend.  Guess that should put the Shahid-Priyanka rumors to rest.

Priyanka and ?some cocky boxer guy?
I agree that it was annoying how Priyanka kept saying that she just went with the flow about everything regarding her career.  But at the same time, I feel like it's probably true - I get the feeling her parents really did a lot of the planning.

Deepika and Asin
Asin seems like a really talented, intelligent, and articulate person.  I wasn't impressed by her in Ghajini, or in any of her photos, but I was by her appearance here.  Her improv game with Deepika (if that really was improv), was very good.  I couldn't understand a lot of what she said in it (my hindi's not "shudh" enough), but it seemed like she really had a way with words.
Deepika was alright - I'm just starting to warm up to her after Love Aaj Kal.  I kinda liked that she hasn't finished school yet and that she doesn't seem to be the brightest in that department... I'm tired of hearing about perfect people!

Abhay and Neil N. Mukesh
They were quite entertaining!  Abhay seems like such an adorable guy with his strict upbringing.  I was glad to hear that it wasn't some sort of double standard where only the girls weren't allowed to go out at all.
The game they played where it was Neil's head and body, and Abhay's hands was hilarious.  Neil: "Hmmm... I think I'll shave my arms today - they've gotten too hairy." - And Abhay does it  Cheesy!

John Abraham and Yuvraaj
Not a cricket fan, so I don't know of Yuvraaj, but they seemed to be buddies.  This was probably one of my favorites so far - John was pretty funny.  Does anyone know which western best looking men list he got on, that he talked about?
Okay, why does John blink like that all the time?  Lol.
The ordinary person guest had me ROFL-ing when he described how the ladies like it when he rides his motorcycle and his hair flies in the wind.  All I could think was OMG, is he serious?  And then, when he started crying because John spontaneously brought out his own helmet to give the guy so that he'd ride safely... it almost had me in tears.  That was really sweet of John.

Okay... that brings me to the end of what I've watched.  Hope some of you guys actually read all ^^ that and have stuff to discuss with me!

It was E! Entertainment's Top 50 hot guys list, I think he was in the top 10. I caught it this summer and they had french z-listers commenting, I was surprised that they would know who John abraham is but i guess they were just shown a picture and went "He's hot!!"  Tongue Aishwarya was also on a similar E!'s list.

Vivek and Ritesh
I didn't really get the Ritesh controversy.  I like Ritesh, but he was overshadowed by Vivek, so I don't remember much of what he said.

Riteish's father is a political heavy-weight, former chief minister/premier of Maharashtra and current centre/federal cabinet minister.  At the time of the 2008 Mumbai attacks, Riteish Deshmukh's father was the Minister for Home Affairs, the person responsible for the internal security of the state amongst other things.  He therefore went on a tour of the hotels after the attack was over and security restored, and Riteish Deshmukh and Ram Gopal Verma (friend of RD) accompanied him.  The public was incensed because they felt the gov't hadn't done enough to protect security, that the need for security was being treated lightly, and this casual and insensitive inclusion of film stars in the tour cemented that point of view in the minds of many people.  There was also a rumour that RG Verma was going to make a movie based in part on what he saw, which was seen as exploitative.  The censure against both father and son was quite fierce.

Agreed.  If we look at what he actually said, there was nothing inappropriate about it.  Farah explicitly stated she brought up the aftermath of the press conference because the public would have been unaware of how negatively it affected him, out of proportion to reason.

Y'know, I didn't even notice that they hadn't mentioned how they lost weight till you pointed it out here!  Hmmm...

Priyanka and ?some cocky boxer guy?
I agree that it was annoying how Priyanka kept saying that she just went with the flow about everything regarding her career.  But at the same time, I feel like it's probably true - I get the feeling her parents really did a lot of the planning.

I forget where else at the moment, but this guy has been all over the press everywhere.  It was funny how Farah made Priyanka flirt with/tease him the way Punjabi guys usually do to girls.  She looked like she enjoyed turning the table on him.  Smiley  (I forget exactly what she said...something about him walking around like a flower in bloom?  It was hilarious to me to think that's what guys actually holler at the girls as they walk past them!)

They had to play out a little skit, too, at some point, and he kept changing his lines to something funnier.  I think there was one part where they were playing on stereotypes, and instead of Priyanka saying she is going to be the mother of his children, he said he was going to be the father of her children (main tere bachchon ka baap honewala hoon)?  I forget how that went but it made me laugh at the time.

Asin came across as very cultured, well-spoken, and very witty.  She also did way better in that 'improv' than Deepika did.  I found it interesting that Farah was publicly telling Deepika to finish her degree, and wondering what she's telling the girl.  You need more intellectual polish?  Your career won't last so have something to fall back on?  You're an air head?  Either way, Deepika demured like a child being admonished and the show moved on.

Oh, okay... not so exciting then.  Either way, I try to remind myself that BW or its actors don't need need validation from the west, but sometimes it just feels good when your two worlds collide.

I see... that makes sense.  I thought it was something more sensational like RGV was financed by terrorists, and Riteish and the CM were in cahoots.

Y'know, I didn't even notice that they hadn't mentioned how they lost weight till you pointed it out here!  Hmmm...

Yeah, turning the tables on the guy was funny.  The skit started off funny too, but then it turned into a sort of flirty thing between the two of them, and it kind of bugged me.

I watched the last episode of unseen footage, and I found out that they went through their improv once before, and the one that was shown was the second run-through.  The first time, Deepika mistakingly said "A man's place is at his wife's feet," instead of the other way around, and everyone made fun of her.  And Asin took more time to come with with her lines in the first go.

KJo did mention at one time to not eat carbs after 6 or so in the evening.  I just assumed he lost the weight by doing a high protein low carb and no carb in the evenings diet.  Smiley
Yeah, I remember that part.  But still, Sonam didn't mention anything, and I would have liked a few more details about their journey from the both of them.

I wanted to make a couple more points while I remembered them.

Neil and Abhay
After hearing Neil sing, I think he made the right decision to be an actor instead.  Not that he's bad, but he's not very good either.
In the unseen footage (14th) episode, they have a clip where Farah asks Abhay if he had a nickname too, like Sunny and Bobby (whose real names are Ajay and Vijay), and Abhay says "No, I didn't have any pet name."  And then he mutters "As if I'd tell you if I had one."  LOL
During the episode, I didn't really like how Neil and Abhay criticized the "regular person" girl for betraying her parents trust.  No one can really know what the family dynamic was like, and what drove the girl to do what she did.  In the unseen footage, they show Farah asking if they could call her dad right now, on the show.  So they do.  And the poor girl tries to get her dad to talk to Farah, but the dad yells at her and hangs up.  I wish they'd shown that segment during the normal episode, because everyone needs to see that sometimes, to stand up for yourself, you have to make difficult decisions like the girl did.  I don't think it would have been possible for her to have done it in any other way.

SRK
Was it just me, or did his skin look flawless?  He must have been wearing makeup.  After reading some people's comments on here, I expected the episode to be a cringe-fest... but it wasn't that bad.  SRK was his usual charming self.  The "regular people" couple seemed relaxed and fun-loving.

Kareena and Imran
So Imran really is like Jai from JTYJN  Grin
I had no idea Farah was in a hindu-muslim marraige.
Not that I'm trying to insult her, but Kareena seems like she's still a girl (I don't mean looks-wise).
The "regular people" guest couple - I have beef against.  Like Farah, Imran, and Kareena said, why did it have to be the woman that changed her religion.  If she had to make the sacrifice of her family, why didn't the guy?  Maybe I'm overly feminist, but me no like.  Angry

Hrithik and Kangana
All is forgiven for those jerk-ass comments Hrithik made during the promotion of Kites.  He is obviously a very hard-worker, and has overcome a lot.  It's easy to look at beautiful/rich people such as him (or even Kangana) and resent them for seemingly having everything served on a silver platter, but this episode definitely opened my eyes.
I've always liked Kangana, and I love her accent.  I make fun of it too, but in a "Aww look how cute!" kind of way.  I like that she actually talks like that, as opposed to all those other celebrities who have "cool" urban accents.
