Pictures culled from the internet below.  Although to be frank, I don't find stills can at all capture what is meltingly good about Mahesh Babu; it's only in action that you can get the charisma and the irresistible "I'm so cool and I'm ignoring you", and then he breaks into that huge grin and....

*dreamy sigh*

Wow, I was all set to grudgingly agree that stills are no good where Mahesh is concerned....
Then I scrolled down to this:

Yeah, those two made my heart do a little skip too when I found them.

Btw, this thread reminds me of my long-held theory that Mahesh Babu and Will Smith belong in the Hollywood/Bollywood lookalikes thread.  Except I've never dared post it there -- too crazy?

Will's eyes are more wide set, but apart from that I really find a lot of similarities.  They're definitely ear twins! Evil

^^ Makes perfect sense to me! But then, I've always been pretty crushed out on Will as well, so you're preaching to the choir.
(I will admit this here. Hopefully you won't be disgusted. But as I was searching for more Mahesh pics I stumbled on an article by his wife extolling the virtues of being married to him and I was too depressed to continue. I find that disturbing. I need to get out more. I might need to actually ban myself. We'll see.  Undecided )

I'm glad you like it, Prahajess.   Smiley    I'm using the same one as my desktop wallpaper.  Your Mahesh posts around the forum have inspired me to re-watch his movies lately.   I get frustrated trying to capture him, though .... you really need to see him in motion to get it.  Sigh.

Yes, that's very true about him.

Has anyone seen this movie with him and Preity?

Oh my God, did you watch that song?   Cheesy   If I hadn't seen Vamsee, I would be thinking "he must have been playing the role of a complete dork in that movie."

Unfortunately, I have seen Vamsee, so I'm thinking (again), how did he transform from an awkward dork into all kinds of awesome?!

I think it's because he grew his hair out. Plus, that choreography is ... well, what can you do with that?

Ha, no, but thanks for hte link.  I've been trying to get hold of Raja Kumarudu for ages; I just brought it up in your Murari thread before coming here.  if you know a good source, do tell!  NewLaura, same goes for Vamsee.  I'm a sucker for punishment, where Mahesh is concerned.

So I just did some googling about any other gems that might lie in Mahesh's filmography, and apparently he was a child actor.  Behold his first-ever silver screen appearance, in 1979's Needa:

Very funny!  I saw it dubbed in Hindi as Prince No 1.  But it's been soooooooooo long ago.  It's funny that Nehaflix has Mahesh Babu listed as Manish, lol.  I have to re-watch if I can get a hand on it again.  Admittedly, when I first saw it, I was like who is that dork with Preity?

I seem to have an extremely high threshold for pain related to Mahesh.  Roll Eyes  Kiss
That terrible bowl cut he was working in  his early films doesn't even bother me anymore. And I hardly fast-forward the fight scenes at all anymore (except in Pokiri b/c they are really so gross). I don't even care about "Girl I'm watching your booooty," (see first song below). I think Mahesh flipped some sort of switch in my head.
I love his voice.
I love how he dances.

Last night I forced my Prague friend to watch my two Must-Watch-Every-Six-Hours songs, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=772aRDjdBTQ  and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoIuyLfu4i0) and she didn't even blink before she said, "He's cute." When he smiled she said, "Look!" "Oh, I know," I said, "trust me...."

I love this song. So. Much. I love that move his does first at 0:08 and then he does it again at 2:21 and again at 3:52. I don't know why, it's so simple, but it makes me crazy! Embarrassed

Anyway... since this is a stargazing thread...

I've been looking for it (and for Vamsi, since that one has Namrata - did they meet on set, does anyone know their story? Not that I care  Tongue) and all I found were those youtube clips.

as for the bowl cut: I saw Athidi first and really didn't like his hair (it was colored, too). The bowl cut is awesome on him, I don't know why. Well, maybe because he looks so nice and boyish with it - and then plays these thug types. It just plays with the expectations of the audience  Wink.

I love this song. So. Much. I love that move his does first at 0:08 and then he does it again at 2:21 and again at 3:52. I don't know why, it's so simple, but it makes me crazy! Embarrassed

 Undecided I know!

and on topic: I actually own a Mahesh movie now (Sainikudu) and will take some screencaps later tonight or tomorrow. Yumm  Grin
