well, i had a great time meeting vinita, her two scrumptious boys and her MIL, and martha...that was so much fun! and ladies, we may need to start writing out our after-movie coffee talk, since it seems like some of our SRK sisters didn't really like it that much!  Undecided i loved it, but according to my husband (as he has already posted), i have very low standards...whatever!  Roll Eyes
oh yeah, my husband...that was the guy that sat next to me and didn't say much to anybody.  Wink

Great meeting punkmama and zoombeaner.

Great to see Martha again.

Just a small correction, punkmama. The lady with me was my friend, not my MIL.

Glad you liked the boys.  Would love to meet Vincent sometime.

Working on my MNIK review.

Anyone up for a meet? Martha?

I want to watch both the Raavan's if possible.

I'll probably see both Raavans as well, though I want to see Raavanan first.

Most probably on Saturday, June 26.  MIL has agreed to keep the boys and she doesn't have to be at work the next day.  I can be late getting back home.

Also, Cinemark here in OKC, sent me an e-mail saying that they will be showing the Hindi version starting June 18.  I'd like to watch the Tamil version first when I am in Dallas.  Do you have any idea how early the first showing of the Tamil version will be?

Do we also need to set up something on FB?  Did that help with MNIK?

At Funasia Richardson, the earliest show is usually around 2:30 on Saturdays and Sundays.  Don't know when Raavanan (Tamil) will be showing on that particular weekend.  It will probably depend on how well it does on opening weekend.  They usually announce the showtimes on Thursday.  I did see where the Tamil and Telagu versions will be playing at the MacArthur Marketplace 16 theater in Irving.  They usually have more showtimes for each movie than FunAsia does.

Tamil films don't often run in Dallas for more than one week, unless its a monster hit, so I try to see them the week they are released.  I usually wait a little while for hit Hindi films so the ticket price is cheaper.

Oh, no!  Does this mean I need to plan on coming down on the 19-20th instead?

Who else is interested in watching the Tamil version?   I know for sure they will show the Hindi version here in OKC starting on June 18th.  I wanted to watch the Tamil version in particular.

When I was at FunAsia this afternoon to see Rajneeti (which I enjoyed), I saw a poster for the Hindi version of Raavan and a trailer for the Hindi version, but nothing for the Tamil version.  The FunAsia website does show the Tamil version under "coming soon", but that may be for Houston.  I want to see the Tamil  version, but I can't go the weekend of the 19-20th.  I hope this one will stick around longer.  Hopefully it will be a monster hit.

Honestly, I don't know.  I don't want to make you change your plans and then be wrong.  You might want to call the theater and ask them what their plans are.  Who knows, they may plan to run it for multiple weeks from the outset.

Well, looks like I will have to come down to Dallas.

The theater that shows Hindi movies in OKC flooded in this week's rains and has a "closed until further notice" on their website.

I will drive down on Saturday, June 26 as mentioned previously.

When would be the best time to call FunAsia to find out where they are showing Raavanan(Tamil)?

I would still like to see both, but if I have to choose, I would like to see Raavanan.

The link below has the showtimes for this week.  Click on the theater name at the top to get the showtimes for that theater.

http://www.funasia.net/

It looks like FunAsia Richardson has the Hindi version and Hollywood in Irving has both the Hindi and the Tamil versions.  According to this website, there are no subtitles for the Tamil version.  If this turns out to be true, I think I will need to wait for the DVD to see the Tamil version, since I don't think I am up for an unsubbed movie in a language I don't understand at all.

Next Saturday, June 26, will be a good day for me.

Anyone in Dallas seen Raavan/Raavanan yet?  Is the Tamil one subtitled?

Getting excited.  I will wait until they put up the next week's listings to decide which theater I will be going to.  Hopefully Hollywood will still have both of them. The local theater that shows Hindi movies still has a "closed" sign on its website.

Bringing my friend Pat along but not the boys.  I don't think this would be something I want them watching.

Now the decision.

Hollywood (Irving) has Raavana(Hindi with subs) starting at 2:30 pm on Saturday and Raavanan(Tamil NO subs) starting at 6:00 pm.

However, FunAsia(Irving) has Villan(Telugu Dub of Raavanan NO subs) at 2:30 pm and Vedam(NO subs) at 6:00 pm.

Even though I had decided only to watch the two Raavana(Hindi and Tamil), now the Telugu dub and Vedam are enticing me.  Since I will only be there for the day, which should I decide on?  I hate living so far away from a decent movie theater.

Our local theater still has "Closed until further notice" on its website.  If and when it re-opens, I MIGHT get to see the Hindi version of Raavana.

As for dinner, I have been to Our Place Indian Cusine in Irving, the first time I came to watch a movie in Dallas.  They had good food.  According to Google, it says it is about a mile away.  How accurate is that and do they do take aways?  Is there any Indian food served at Hollywood or is it all popcorn and candy like regular movie theaters?

Just bought the tickets to Raavana(Hindi) at 2:30 pm on Saturday, June 26th and Raavanan(Tamil) at 6:00 pm.

Time now to decide on the food situation.

BTW, other than Martha, who will be able to come? Punkmama? Prem Rogue? Any of the new members?

*Duplicate post in Member Updates*
The boys and I are going to meet up with Hubby in Dallas this weekend. Driving down on Friday evening, FW Zoo on Saturday, returning Sunday evening.

I would like to meet up with some BW? members, and go see a Telugu movie and a Hindi movie, if possible.  (January was the last time I saw a movie in the theater) Maybe one on Saturday night and one on Sunday afternoon?

Martha? Punkmama? Anyone else?

I know this is short notice but we didn't make the decision until late last night.

With the Dookudu release slated for August 31st, I am planning to drive down to see it at FunAsia.  I would also like to see Salman Khan's Bodyguard

Hubby's situation is rather fluid right now, so I don't know if I will be there for the weekend or just one day(which is my usual MO).

Anyone interested in meeting up?

Bodyguard came out on August 31st. Dookudu is slated to release on September 23.  And Ra.1 for October 26.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Why do they do this to me?
*Ends hissy fit*

Question: Do you think Bodyguard will still be in the (FunAsia) theaters on September 23? I was hoping to watch both Bodyguard and Dookudu in one trip.

Based on Bodyguard's Day 1 business, I would think it'll still be around on the 23rd.  Hell, they still have Delhi Belly playing one show per week.

I have a baby sitter for the boys for September 24.

I am planning on watching Bodyguard and Dookudu

Although I prefer Hollywood theaters on MacArthur, I will be at the Fun Asia theater has both movies showing that day.

Anyone interested in a meetup?

There is a Dallas Desi-related meetup group (meet up.com) but it leaves me out, I'm over 40 :-(
I would love to find a group that goes to movies, etc.
Two friends I work with and I are going to see either Bodyguard or Mere Brother Ki Dulhan this Friday after work, at FunAsia
