Ah. Well, the sheer number is a bit unsettling...

What's weird is that it's a bunch of oldies. I can imagine Wake Up Sid or Kaminey being available for only a limited time, but it's odd that there was a short term deal for these movies. I wonder if Netflix didn't think they were getting streamed enough, and decided not to renew.

My guess is that they got all the oldies from the same distributor. I don't believe they negotiate these deals on a per title basis. I wish they listed the distributor on the film's page so we would know which distributor to be irritated with. Well I guess I better go try and watch some of them before they disappear. Last time this happened to me the film was available past midnight my time the night before so I'm not sure when exactly they will consider it to be Jan. 16.

Please go start some fights on Netflix's Forums. We need a Presence there which is more than me and the enemies I have made.

The watch instantly list for Indian flicks has now been trimmed down to 3 pages.

SLB's Devdas is finally available from Netflix.
I kept it in my saved queue and one day it was gone to the big available queue in the sky. Of course, I already owned it by then, but yay!
Does anyone keep Indian movies in their saved queue with the small hope that people will notice and eventually they'll be available?
I have 81 movies in my "saved" list. A few are American movies that aren't available yet, but most are Indian.
Even though I've bought some of them, I still keep them there so they know there's a demand.
Also - according to my queue, Kabhi Kabhie and Silsila are "coming soon" to instant watch.

Oooh, I'm excited about the Instant Watch stuff. They used to have lots of oldies, but then took them down in January, so hopefully this means they've worked something out with the distributors.

I keep any movie they list in my "Saved" queue on the off-chance they'll get it. Mangal Pandey has gone back and forth a few times. It always goes to the bottom of my queue, which is 450 movies long, so by the time I notice, it's gone again. Oh well.
Hmmmmm. I am ambivalent about Devdas. Part of me knows I have to watch it some day; the other part thinks that I will hate it as much as KANK and wants to aviod, yaar. I'm thinking the dancing could be a draw (and one that KANK didn't have going for it...)

Hey, it looks like Yash Raj Films has some sort of deal with Netflix, since a whole bunch of films are up on instant watch now: DDLJ, Dhoom 2(!), Veer Zaara, RBDJ, Chak De, Dostana, and ooh look- Pyaar Impossible!!
Might be a good chance to try and convert some friends with Netflix.

I'm wondering how the subtitles compare between the DVDs and streaming. I'm watching Delhi 6 (streaming) for the first time and it seems like they're just translating half of it.

I've been whining about this for months!
I haven't seen Dehli 6 streaming, but I imagine it suffers from what all of the Bollywood movies have suffered from - the bottom half is cut off of letters. y looks like v, and p looks like o and on and on. Is that what you're seeing?

I wonder if it makes a difference how you're watching...?? I had tried in a browser from my HTPC (home theater PC) to a large HDTV, and the quality wasn't good, although I didn't see any subtitle placement problems.
Just got a Playstation 3, and the Netflix streaming video is much much higher quality, and I still don't see any subtitle problems. Just watched Chance Pe Dance so far though... if I come across any problems I'll report back.
Those of you with subtitle problems, are you watching on widescreen TV's, or older 4:3 sets, or on a computer?

I've watched them on my laptops, the TV (new, bought in last 2 years), and now the TV via the wii.
Same problem over and over again.
I noticed on filmigirl's blog, she posted some caps from Rocket Singh, and they had the same problem.

Update -- Rocket Singh is playing right now, subtitles look just fine. Two full lines, nothing cut off. I can't explain it, but it's true.

Wow! The subs on Rocket Singh are great!
Wake Up Sid as well has changed, along with Dostana
The image is a bit shorter than it used to be.
Bluffmaster is still wonky, but all the titles I reported on twitter are fixed now! Off to go report BluffMaster. Who knew they listened?

Netflix is driving me up the wall.
Monday, when I sent my DVDs in, Koyla was available.
And now all the BW movies I have 1-14 have "short wait" except for Ishqiya, with a "very long wait".
So the 3 movies I'm getting for this week? Saved!, Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead, and Control Room (a documentary about Al Jazeera).
I want to see all these movies, that's not the issue. But damn - 14 movies suddenly unavailable!
Has this happened to anyone else? Koyla was available for a long time, until today.

I just have to vent about this recurring problem I have with Netflix dvds:
I mostly watch the dvds on my laptop, which on my laptop means that they have to fit over the spindle thing. Netflix puts a little label with the barcode at the center of all of their dvds. So, if that label not perfectly centered, it doesn't pop onto the spindle, and it won't play. So I have to take a pen knife, and whittle down the part of the label that's over the hole. Drives me crazy.

How do you access Netflix's Forums? I have looked and looked but I don't see anything that says "Forum" or anything similar.
Also, they seem to have two actors, the Tamil Actor Vikram and a Hinidi Actor from the 1970's, and also called Vikram mixed up. All the movies are listed under Vikram. How do I let them know that these are two different actors with two different sets of movies?

On the plus side of ordering Indian films from Netflix, most of the time, the dvds are at my local distribution point, and come in a few days. But about every 5 film in my queue, it has to come from farther away, so they send me the next thing in my queue, and then the one that's coming from far away. So it's like I have the 5 film at a time plan, even though I'm paying for the 4 at a time plan!

One of my friends wrote to Nehaflix to have more Telugu and Tamil films available. Nehaflix replied back and said the demand is low. Let's all write to Nehaflix to get them to have more in stock.

Do you ever have a problem where you drop off your movie on Monday, arrange your queue with Bollywood movies at the top... and then once they get the movie the next morning, all of them are short or long wait and you have no idea what you're getting?
I've got the 3 at a time plan and get 4 from time to time. I only got the 3 at a time plan because when I had the 2 at a time, I kept getting 3. Also, I wanted to watch DCH over spring break. Priorities, man.
