What's Your Nakshatra?

I frequent an Indian television forum for Hindi serials. In a sub-forum for a show about mythological figures, I came across this link where you can determine your Nakshatra. I am a moron and before tonight I had never even heard of the term "Nakshatra" for anything astrology-related Tongue

Anyway, if anyone wants to input their info, here is the link, and I'd be so curious to see your result if you don't mind copying and pasting Cheesy

http://www.prokerala.com/astrology/nakshatra-finder/

[^ Mods if it's uncool to post this kind of link or topic, I understand and no worries to delete this thread Smiley]

Here is a link from the same site to all 27 Nakshatra signs, if you are interested in reading about ones other than your own:

http://www.prokerala.com/astrology/nakshatra/

Okay since I have slight insomnia this evening, I entered my birthdate, birthtime and location (Evening of June 15 in '74 in Los Angeles.)

And found out I am something called "Revati" symbolized by an eye.

Here was my full result (sounds MUCH cooler than the complete and total loser I am in real life hahaha:p)

Basic information about Revati Birth Star
Existing in the zodiac sign of Pisces, Revathi Nakshatra etymologically implies power to transcend. Endowed with an intrinsic hopefulness, the nakshatra includes in itself the potential to see beyond the mundane mediocrities characterizing everyday existence. Apart from this being one of its general characteristics, Revathi Nakshatra with the predominating influence of Saturn and Jupiter; upholds the general characteristics of idealism, benevolence and sustenance. Another essential characteristic of this nakshatra is its ‘Kshiradyapani Shakti’- by virtue of which it is able to protect and nourish, despite its essential detachment.

General characteristics of Revati Nakshatra
As one of the most pleasant nakshatras, natives born under its benign influence reflect elegantly polished sense of refinement in their personality trait. In spite of their helpfulness and elements of graceful sociability; they are potentially capacitate in remaining untouched by pressures of situations. Seldom affected by twists and turns, theirs is a gracefully illumined presence with streaks of knowledge and educational excellence. Bearing proportionately elegant features and physique, their poise and cordiality together with wisdom and fathoming ability are the leading facets of their personality traits. It also includes in its purview wonderfully keen intellectual acumen together with the passion for learning.

Behavioral characteristics
Reflecting affectionately caring ways in their behavioral characteristics, natives born under the predominating influence of Revati Nakshatra do not mind reaching out to people. Sympathetic approach to people and situations leads them into commanding awe, reverence and love. Ability to reach out and serve others being the major fulcrum of their behavioral characteristics, they are often seen holding magical sway over others. Interestingly, in spite of their fine tuned social skills; a sense of detachment from the surrounding practicalities characterizes their behavioral mannerisms. Looking beyond the physical reality, they are prone to inhabiting the world of fantasy and imagination. Strict compliance with the calls of conscience is another asset of their behavioral characteristic.

Positive traits
Besides being pillar of strength and support to people and society at large, their orientation towards religion, ethics and principles counts amongst such natives’ positive traits. Similarly appreciable are their sense of decorum, sophistication and culture. Intrinsically constructive by nature, their optimism is another aspect of their positive trait.

Negative traits
Owing to the malefic influence of certain planets natives may be susceptible to idleness and depression. Apart from these, his strict adherence to principle and expected norms of behavior may give way to the negative traits of obstinacy, temper and head strong ways. This in turn may contribute to the negative traits of orthodoxy and superstition.

Career Options for Revati Nakshatra Born People
Career opportunities based on scientific research, archaeological survey, poetry and literature are suitable for natives with Revathi in ascendance. Putting into use his wisdom and social acumen he can also be successful in careers related to administration, astrology and astronomy.

Revati Nakshatra Compatibility and Incompatibility
According to the principles of Nakshatra obstruction, Magha and Revati are mutually incompatible. In keeping with the norms of instinctive compatibility or ‘yoni kuta’, Bharani and Revathi are most compatible, with both being symbolized by male and female elephants respectively. Elephant’s inimicality with lion makes it incompatible to Purva Bhadrapada and Dhanistha; on the other hand its friendly orientation towards monkey, sheep and snake makes it compatible to nakshatra symbolized by the same. Consequently, Revathi Nakshatra finds itself on a compatible wave length with Sravana, Utarashaada, Krittika, Rohini and Pushyami nakshatras.
...........................................

Okay so apparently I need to find a guy who is Bharani, Sravana, Utarashaada, Krittika, Rohini or Pushyami.
[None of which I'd ever heard of before right now. Ha!]

This is all too confusing for my Gemini mind...I'll have to get a guy's birthday, birth-location and time of birth on the first date so I can go on my iPhone and figure out his Nakshatra to see if we're compatible or not?

No problem, I'll ask for that info right upfront, I'll say it's for research purposes. Yea that won't be weird at all LOL [TongueGrin]
........................

Edit part II: Shucks!! I entered "AM" instead of "PM" on my birth-time so the above result is not even correct! I am a way less cool sign. Oh well. I will leave the cooler and wrong one up as something to aspire to...? Am such a pathetic headcase over here hehehe

No, that's fine, LA. Also, since Vedic astrology is a completely different system from Western astrology, they deserve their own threads, too.

Keep in mind, though, that traditionally in Vedic astrology you're supposed to guard your date and time of birth, because your enemies can supposedly use it to determine your weaknesses and when you're going through a bad phase to strike out against you.  Cheesy One of the many reasons why choosing your pundit/astrologer is so important a task. Wink Smiley

So my nakshatra is uttara phalguni, which is apparently symbolised by a bed?!  Shocked  Smiley And one of the negative characteristics is a propensity to adultery, which I suppose is where the imagery fits in?  Smiley Anyway, the rest of it is so positive that one could only wish..and if even half of it were true, fighting that temptation would overall be worth it, so can't complain.  Grin

James and Anamika, I read through the traits of your signs and they sound cool!

^^ Revati is my Nakshatra!!

So which one are you really?

Haha shucks Mala I totally suck!
I got all the exact info (born 4:53pm on June 15th, 1974 in Glendale) and I input it and out comes Ashwini the horse lady Lips Sealed

And this happens after spending hours trying on clothes in Little India with my muffin-top spilling over the sari petticoats and lengha-skirts and my mom poking my fat rolls in the dressing room and saying "Too mota, you have to lose this beta" and I'm like "OMG everyone in here can HEAR you, plz keep your voice DOWN" and then she's all "Don't be badtameez nalaik rude marjaani, no-one talks to their mother like this" and then more embarrasing arguments while the LA desi shopkeepers are like snickering to themselves (Damn you snotty shopkeepers, I'll make voodoo dolls out you guys and we'll see what happens THEN hehe)

And now I come home to find I'm Ashwini Horse who has child-like traits and should be a soldier or something (Ummm no thanks.)

No, that's fine, LA. Also, since Vedic astrology is a completely different system from Western astrology, they deserve their own threads, too.

Ah okay, cool then.

Looks like mine is Swati, sword/independence (no wonder then, my liking Southie masalas Wink).

Hmmm, while I am pretty stubborn and do feel stifled sometimes when outside factors impede *my* plans, I'm not at all a religious person. At least not in an organized religion kinda way.

I love this part (ahem): "Because of these traits they may not be very popular in the society."  *takes a bow* Lips Sealed Cheesy

The career portion pretty well lines up with both my Western sign--Capricorn--and professional aptitude tests I've taken: that I should be in artistic/design, legal, or engineering fields (and actually, my first college major was engineering).

Will have to check out what my husband's is seeing as how I'm not supposed to be very happy with married life. Tongue

Horse lady is not so bad! We're compatible

Seems like all of them are mostly positive. There isnt really a  'nothing will amount of you'  nakshatra

Im poorva ashada. Somtimes ive been told that my briskness comes across as arrogance, so that could be true.
Poor decision making abilities, hmmmm... I dont think so but my mom will probably agree. 30 and unmarried...!

^ 37 and unmarried over here...and I can't even become a crazy cat lady because I prefer dogs:p

(But seriously PW you've got tons of time, you could totally meet your soulmate person at age 31 or 34, who knows Smiley]

My Zodiac sign (Gemini) is so far much cooler than my Nakshatra one...now I just have to see what my numerology results say Lol

Haha but you're popular in my society FilmiFan:D

That's very interesting
It's weird how some things will completely check out with these astrological descriptions.
