And of course, the Taj Mahal.

I visited the Taj Mahal for the first time two summers ago and it was absolutely incredible. Anyone can see a picture of the Taj, but it is a completely different thing to actually see it. Its sheer size is just so overwhelming and it's so beautiful. I would strongly recommend you go see the Taj if you have the chance.

That's what everyone who's seen the Taj has told me -- that pictures cannot do it justice. I absolutely can't wait to go. My parents said that my high school graduation present would include a trip to the Taj Mahal.

Bizarre yet beautiful places in India (by the way, did you know that the adjective "bizarre" derived from the Indian word "bazaar"? [source: Mongrel Nation 2003])...

Mahabat Maqbara, Junagadh, Gujarat, India:

Rang Ghar (royal sports pavilion), Sibsagar, Assam, India:

Nek Chand's Rock Garden, Chandigarh, Punjab/Haryana, India:

Matrimandir in Auroville (a "New Age experimental township" still under construction), Viluppuram, Tamil Nadu, India:

I haven't heard of the place until it was featured recently on BBC's Around the World in 80 Gardens (2008).

What pretty photos. I'd like to visit so many places in India. I'd like to visit the Hindu temples in different places. And I'd like to see Vrindavan, of Krishna and Radha mythology.
