Please could we have a list of the major film stars with recent photographs next to them? I'm totally confused by desi names and the only ones I know are Amitabh Bachchan (spelling?) and John Abraham. I visit Bollywood sites with lists of actors and feel totally left out in the cold. Huh

That's what I assumed I was doing with the biographies on the main site...

Any suggestions as to how I could make that more beginner-friendly?

PS That is the cutest photo of Salman Khan I've ever seen, Sheeshe.  Actually, I didn't think he could be cute... What a revelation.

I think bollywhat's intro page is sans-pareil.  Perhaps this thread would be helpful in looking for faces that you dont have a name for, maybe....But the bollywhat pages are superb.  The forum takes such a commanding place on the website, I think most people forget to check back to the main page, where there is so much more!

oye the controversy continues. hmmm i'm not sure actually. i always thought it was pronounced as spelt kajol = kah=joal but when i was watching KWK with kads and SRK it was more like Kah-jewl. a subtle Jewl though.

Depends on the language you are speaking.  Smiley

Edited to add:  "Ka-jol" is the Bengali pronunciation (Kajol is half Bengali) and "Ka-jal" is the Hindi pronunciation.

ETA 2: I can't remember the various ways her name was pronounced on the Koffee With Karan show, but I've heard a very fascinating pronunciation of her name  Wink  by Gurinder Chadha, who is Asian Brit by way of Africa (can't remember which African country) and of Punjabi background.

I thought the biographies were a good job. I thought they were brilliant. They almost became a bible to me when i was new in Bollywood. I'm still copying those photos for covering my... uh, i may i have said too much  Roll Eyes Embarrassed lol

how exactly is preity zintas name pronounced....is it pretty (like normal pretty) or preethii (like the girl in ddlj..that srk was going to be forced to marry*) or is it something else??
