Ever since I changed e-mail addresses I hardly ever get notifications of new posts.  I think that I have the right setting in my profile but, at the bottom of all the topics I have visited is  the following message:

Current Board Notifications
You aren't receiving notifications on any boards right now.

To request notifications from a specific board, click the "notify" button in the index of that board.

When I go to the specific board and click "notify", I get the message "Are you sure that you want to discontinue receiving notices?" or something close to that.

So how can I start getting notifications of new posts at my e-mail address?

I also encounter this problem after I had a change of email add. There are notifications, but of only one or two topics instead of the many. I gave up checking through that function and now use the 'show unread replies to your posts' which is much more convenient as the mail notifications used to flood my inbox with the many replies within hours.

I suddenly stopped receiving all notifications about a week ago, and I can't figure out why.  Everything looks okay in my profile and in my email program.  Am I the only one with the problem?

Same problem here, but with PM notifications.
Although I have chosen "always" in the settings for the feature "Notify by email every time you receive a personal message:", and I used to get notifications until about a month ago, these have stopped.

I got some PMs in these weeks, but did not get notified any more, so I only discovered the PM when I logged in again - sometimes days after.
Since I have neither changed my email address nor my profile settings, I have no idea what went wrong.

Well, I got 185 notifications this morning, so that seems to have been fixed.   Cheesy   Hope yours got fixed, too, Bella!

Thanks!

We have outgrown the resources of our VPS so that explains the down-time as well as the missing notifications (every time the forum generates an email to you, that kicks up the amount of resources utilized).  In fact, according to the host, we may have to switch off mail entirely, if we want to stay on this VPS package.  That seems unacceptable to me, but so does the alternative (upgrading), so... for the moment, my apologies for the inconvenience, and if possible, hang tight until we get this figured out!

Edited to add -- okay, may have found a solution.  There will be a brief downtime tonight to implement it, FYI.

I assume that the new upgrade in software is causing the same problems as the old one did. I haven't received any email notifications regarding forum topics or PMs, should I just sit tight and wait for the kinks to get worked out? Am I the only one? Echooooo??

I think I'm having the same problem.  When I checked on my unread replies, I didn't see any new ones, but upon browsing the forum found that someone had responded to a post of mine.  So there must be some gremlin causing havoc in the data somewhere!

I am receiving notifications and the unread replies thing works fine for me? Just trying to help you guys, maybe it's something in settings where you select the option?

Ok, I just went under my profile and looked this up; you guys might have already done this, in which case ignore this message  Grin If you haven't, then under your Profile for Personal Message Options you check the notify-by-email option and under Emails and Notifications you check the notify-for-first-unread-reply option. Hope that helps.

After modifying all of the options in the "email & notifications" dialogue window, I still am not receiving email and the system still updates threads that I have deleted from the notification option. I have cleared the cache of the history and cookies, but since the "software upgrade", I have not been able to get things working again.

I am using Firefox 3.0.11 for Mac, and I have made certain that my No-Script & Ad-block apps are not interfering with the website. Is it possible for an admin to look at the server-side settings on my username, or completely re-set the options for my username?

My "Unread Posts" list is completely empty for some reason, though I'm sure people are posting out there in the Big Wide World and just this morning I had a page of unread posts that I never read. Where are they disappearing to? Is there some kind of time limit?

This is happening to me, too.  Sometimes I will have no "unread posts," but then if I go look at the boards, there are lots of threads with new posts and they even have the "new" flag on them.

Where do you look for "unread posts"?  I used to be able to find a link right at the top of the page after logging in, but it seems to have moved, and some clicking around hasn't turned it up.  thanks!

Do you see the "header" at the top of the page, with your icon and name?  If you do, there should be a choice that says "show unread posts since last visit."

If you don't see the header with your icon and name, then you might need to "expand" the header.  Look for a little triangle in a little square box right above the "home" key at the top of the page and click on it.

I think if the "new" posts are over a certain number of days/hours old, they no longer appear on that list.  It's possible the specific amount of time has decreased recently.

I don't know...it does strange things since the other problems with the forum started this summer.

There have been mornings when there will be a few new posts that were made during the night in my "show unread posts" list, but if I go look at the boards, there will be other "new" posts from times during the night both before and after the ones that show up on my "unread" list.

And sometimes a middle-of-the-night unread post (that I haven't seen yet) shows up randomly on my list later in the day, when I've already cleared unread posts from the list earlier in the day.

I don't know if I described that clearly, but basically, the posts that show up on the unread posts list sometimes seem to be randomly selected from new unread posts.

Sometimes I wonder if posts are edited, they get a new icon, but don't show up in the unread list.

No matter what thread I subscribe to I never receive notification.
Do I have to do something on my end to fix this problem?

This may not solve it, but in your Profile - Account Related Settings, is your email address correct/current?
