Raj,
I am a native speaker of Bengali.
Check this http://www.bangla-online.info/ to learn Bengali on the net. For Bengali songs, the different genres check this

If you want to take it one step further, you can purchase the Teach Yourself: Bengali by William Radice. Thus far (chapter 17 of 35) it has been very rewarding and pretty instructive about Bengali culture.

I have been googling around for Bengali song lyrics, without finding anything particularly interesting.

This one, http://www.banglamusic.com/lyrics/, has a few songs with romanized lyrics.

I am also learning - I use Borno Porichay to learn the writing (if you are in Bengal you may be able to get a copy from the booksellers) and have the Radice book and also doing that Jehovah's Witness online course... also using Livemocha to chat with native speakers and other learners.
