Saif Ali Khan is now a tea-totaller. The actor, who turned a year older yesterday, is trying to lead a healthy life after his heart-scare. Obviously, Saif didn't treat himself with expensive liquors, as he turned a year older yesterday. The actor worked all day, as he shot for Yash Raj Film, Tashan in Rajasthan along with co-stars Kareena Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and Akshay Kumar. The actor's spokesperson says, “He has given up alcohol now and there were no major celebrations.”

The actor is also trying to improve his eating habits. Any kind of meat is a strict no-no for the actor. We are told that he is also refraining from eating chicken. “He has given up on meat. He is also not having chicken,” confirms his spokesperson Anirban Das Blah.

What prompted him to give up alcohol and meat? The theory doing the rounds is that the actor is under strict diet regime as recommended by his doctors. Says a source close to the actor, “Doctors says that it has to be a combined effort of food and exercise. After his heart trouble, he has been taking care of his diet.”

In circles where it really matters, the buzz is that Aditya Chopra had urged Saif to get into shape for Tashan, and get rid of his visible paunch. Ever since Saif has been working out with his personal trainer and eating low calorie, rich-in fibre food. When quizzed about it, the actor's spokesperson says, “He is eating healthy food as it helps him to maintain a certain physique that was required for his look in the film.”

Anil and Kareena shooting a song together for Tashan

Anil Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor are currently shooting for a song sequence together in Rajasthan for Yash Raj's Tashan. Despite being touted as the villain in the film, he is not actually playing a negative role in the multistarrer. The Vijay Krishna Acharya (Dhoom series writer) directed film also stars Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan.

A unit source tells us, "It is one long shooting schedule currently taking place in Jaisalmer where apart from the Anil-Kareena song some major action scenes for the film shall also be shot wherein the entire star cast will be participating. Hollywood action director Peter Haynes has been deployed for the action scenes."



"The Anil - Kareena song is an important part of the story and was earlier scheduled to be shot in Ladakh in the film's previous schedule. But following some changes it was decided the location would be changed. Anil in a totally new look with shaved chest and tattooed all over is not exactly playing a villain in the film as it is being reported. His character is amongst the most interesting one amongst them all with a little grey shades. He is somewhere in between Hrithik Roshan's character Aryan in Dhoom 2 and John Abraham's Kabir in Dhoom. Both were criminals but wouldn't be termed as villains in the film. Anil and Yash Raj association goes back to 20 years since the time Anil did Yash Chopra directed Vijay with them. He later was also a part of Yash Chopra's Lamhe," the source adds.

"Kareena is the only heroine in Tashan and both Akshay and Saif (both in a revamped look) are shown passionately falling for her. Kareena was told to shed weight for the role and Akshay had to trim his hair short and sport a beard while Saif was told to grow side locks and a double barrel moustache. Every actor of Tashan and even the technicians are under a strict clause with the prestigious banner not to disclose anything in regards to the film. Yash Raj head honcho was apparently very upset with Saif for appearing in the latest Lays commercial with his Tashan look," concludes the source.

WHAT?! Anil's not evil? That would have been interesting. I'm kinda dissappointed, but I'm still very much looking forward to this movie. And seeing Kareena and Anil share the screen with a different dynamic than they shared in Bewafaa will be good. And are TPTB at Yash Raj mad that Saif is promoting something else with his new look? Because I saw Akshay on B4U yesterday with his beard and short hair talking about Heyy Babyy. It must be hard to keep something physical like that under wraps when you have other projects that you are commited to.

Nothing, nor did I say anything was. I like Kareena and I like Anil, so I like seeing them together, in different types of roles. The roles in Taashan, I assume, will be different than those in Bewafaa, so I'm interested in how it works out.

Oh really? 

Does anyone has found the pictures of Saif with his moustache, or maybe the ad is on youtube or something? He had sideburns in Parineeta but I've never seen him with a moustache. It makes me think of Edward Norton in the remake of The Italian Job I don't know why. Anyway this focus on hair in the Indian media is so weird, everytime an actor gets a new haircut it seems to be of extreme importance, such a big deal is made about it.

Otherwise I'm not too excited about this film. The fact that the director is responsible for the Dhoom 2 "script" (not sure this word applies here) doesn't help. But if they're shooting in Ladakh and Jaisalmer at least there will be a nice view behind all the action.

I've been searching for the commercial (pics or video) and have not been lucky either...

I am keeping my expectations really low for this movie. At least until we have an idea of what the story is. I really hope it works though, because Kareena deserves it!

Anyway this focus on hair in the Indian media is so weird, everytime an actor gets a new haircut it seems to be of extreme importance, such a big deal is made about it.

well, think about: how often do hindi fillm actors really change their hair? not that often. preity is the only one off the top of my head that i can think of who semi-regularly cut/change her hair before it became trendy of late. and it seemed that she did that just to do it, not for specific roles.

Of course it won't be a masterpiece to remember on the next century as an important part of the Indian film history... But I'm hoping for a fun ride AND - if at all possible - a good enough film to stand more rewatches than D2 or Dhoom. I mean, both are fun enough on the first watch and I do admit rewatching them, though mostly because a friend wanted to watch them so I kept her company. Regardless, they were just too stupid for a genuine rewatch value.

I'm hoping Tashan will be, if not better than at least more crap so it can qualify for 'so bad it's good' category.

You know what guys, you may just have hit the bulls eye with that speculation about it being a remake of the good, the bad.............
Because it kinda does explain the obsession of facial hair and hairstyle craze that the movie has been having.
But I am guessing that the role kareena is playing will probably be tweaked around and will be an extention of the charcter of Maria or may even be totally diffeent to anything from the original. Because from an article posted here earlier it says that both Saif and Akshay are passionately in love with Kareena!
But I mean it does seem like the most likely option as in why else would they be traipsing round locations like Ladakh, Jaisalmer and Kerala, it would definetley make sense if they were doing a remake of the good the bad.... because it makes sense to adapt it in these sorta locations if you were making that film in Bollywood.

Well actually on second thoughts aint this supposed to be some uber stylish flick, cos its called Tashan and all that, but I suppose they could incorporate all the style into it cos The good the........... was also stylish in its own right as many western movies were.

if this is a western flick with a touch of *Tarshan- Style* thats kool!!! i think that film GBU...was a Western Classic! like someone had said here..i too watched this film when i was about around 10 to 13 yrs old!
