Wanted: A Hollywood hottie for Aamir Khan

Every A-list heroine in Bollywood wants it, Katrina Kaif almost got it, but now the most anticipated role of the year opposite Aamir Khan will feature a Hollywood star.

The latest rumour on the Dhoom 3 front is that producer Aditya Chopra and director Vijay Krishna Acharya have decided to cast a Hollywood actress to play Aamir's love interest.

The flash-decision was taken a fortnight ago in a closed-door meeting. Apparently Yashraj is not looking at a non-descript Caucasian starlet, like the ones who paired with Aamir Khan in Lagaan and Rang De Basanti.

The stars they are actually looking forward to do their film are Oscar winner Natalie Portman, Spanish superstar Penelope Cruz and Eva Longoria of Desperate Housewives fame.

A source says, "The names you mention are definitely in the list. Yashraj has never worked with an international star in any of its films. The production house has now decided to take the Dhoom franchise to a global level.

One safe and effective way of going global would be the casting of a Hollywood hottie." A formal announcement is expected to follow soon.

Confirming the same, Yashraj's official spokesperson says, "Yes, as of now some new international options are being considered."

The role will involve sporting swimwear and a passionate kissing scene with Aamir; the parts that Katrina had problems with and thus failed to land the dream role.

Several movies. Good God these girls kill me with their 'suddenly decent' act. Like Kareena refusing to do a wet sari scene in Bodyguard because it's 'too revealing.' Give me a break. She's done two bikini scenes and that horrible Kambakkht Ishq quasi-sex scene. If you don't want to do it, that's fine, but at least come up with a more credible excuse.

Whew, vent about that over. Meanwhile, they really need to stop being so ridiculous about finding this actress. At this rate I'll be watching Dhoom:3 in the theater with my kids. They're wasting too much time. It's the second most populated country in the world people! Is there really a shortage of lovely Indian women to do this thing? Just grab one!

Oh god i'm losing interest for this movie day by day. The first thing that bothered me was Aamir playing the villain, but I somehow managed to get over that and now they're irritating us like crazy with this hunt for the perfect actress.. Damn just choose one and start shooting this damn movie! It has taken so long now that they can make a movie about this 'casting-problem'

I would actually be up for Kalki in this role. She is adorable, but she could totally pull off a Poison Ivy-type villainess.

Now that Kalki has been mentioned, it would be VERY interesting to see her opposite Aamir and I am totally up for it! Both are good actors and I'm sure Kalki has no problem with those 'requirements'. That being said, it is also highly unlikely they will cast her.

Maybe, but I feel like wasting all of this time isn't worth all of the publicity in the fact that they're holding off shooting and thereby holding up their actors, who could be otherwise working on other films. I wonder if they're having to pay them for all of this time? I'm sure Aamir is not cheap.

I would also just hate for the star to be a Hollywood actress. Not only would it be totally expensive, she would look terribly out of place, what is she going to do? Just like the other American girls in Bollywood movies that are paired with Indian guys, just stand there and smile while everyone speaks Hindi around them. So they're either going to have to give them Hindi lines to memorize (which will mostly likely be butchered) or do dubbing. Ugh! That never turns out well and I would HATE to see this franchise ruined by that just because they want someone 'exotic.'

See the thing is, as per tradition in the other Dhoom films, the femme fatale has done a huge item song. Aish in Crazy Kiya Re and Esha in Dhoom Machale, which is a bit of a stretch to call an item song, but that's not my point.A dance song that ends up being the staple on the movie's soundtrack. If they were to follow that same criteria with a non-Indian actress I think the result would be disastrous.

I don't think they are holding up the movie. According to Uday Chopra, they are definitely going to stat shooting by November. I just wish now they just grab a random Indian girl off the street and just use her. Dhoom girls don't do anything anyways.

I seriously think this is all just a time pass of the BW media because they simply adore spreading wildly speculative rumors about anything big like the Dhoom franchise or Aamir Khan. Before I go all upset about those things I take several dozens of pinches of salt. And I don't blame YRF for just simply saying something non comital to such guessing because it keeps their film in the talk without them having to do a single thing. And I'm sure they have their casting schedule well in hand, but that doesn't mean they go all public with it when they don't think it's the right moment.

And as much as I respect Kalki as an actress, an everyday looking girl like her would be seriously miscast in the Dhoom franchise where all she has to do is looking glamourous and sexy. Maybe I'm a bit prejudiced because she looks so incredibly like the average Swiss girl! that I just can't imagine her in anything larger than life,...  it would be a different story altogether if her part in the movie would be that of a feisty, clever ordinary girl that gets involved in the big gangster game because the super crook falls for her,.... but I seriously doubt they are ever going to come up with a thing like that,...

Unfortunately, I could see Megan Fox accepting a role in the movie, considering that her Hollywood career is going nowhere. 

But Penelope Cruz? Come on! Why would she ever want to accept a role as bikini-clad gori arm-candy in a movie like Dhoom 3? Not to mention the fact that she'll probably have to lose a lot of weight to meet YRF's bikini body requirements. And her fee will probably be too high for them.

Anyway, they have Aamir Khan starring in one of BW's most established action franchises. They are pretty much guaranteed a superhit. Why would they spend a ton of money on a gori actress who does not even have much box office draw in India? Plus 2 of the actresses mentioned- Penolope Cruz and Eva Longoria- are also not exactly BW actress material in that both of them are much older and don't have the cutesy innocent look that is pretty much mandoatory for these actresses, or the skinny, statuesque model's body. If they were actually thinking of casting a well-known HW actress, I think they would be more likely to consider women like Megan Fox and Mila Klunis.

I have a feeling that this is just another of Aamir Khan's marketing tricks, and that the female lead has already been chosen. There were rumours earlier that they'd already found a new face and they were keeping her a secret.

I agree that this whole HW-actress for D3 is probably simply a wild rumor. But it's certainly not one of Aamir's making. First because so far it's still a YRF film and they are behind the infromation policy right now. Second because spreading false rumours is not part of his marketing style. The credo of AK marketing is always being outright honest about what a film is all about. Not gossipmongering. He's never done that so far. But the media are so incredibly inventive when it comes to thinking up completely unbelievable rumours about him and his projects all the time he really doesn't need to take the trouble. All he does is not comment on all the BS that gets published and sometimes, like in the case of the Delhi Belly Item Girl stoy, he just enjoys a bit of fun and goes along with it.
