Happy, Carefree Songs!
«
on:
January 06, 2007, 09:27:07 AM »
I need help! Am finding for songs that are happy, carefree, makes you feel good! Need your recommendations please?
Singing and dancing in the rain, or waterfall, or river, or on the swing... or anything else!
Some examples of songs I can think of now are:
Barso Re (Guru), Taal se taal mila (Taal), Aayi re aayi re khushi (Khushi), Boondon se baatein (Thakshak)...
I can't think of any more songs... So please, would really appreciate it!

I have no clue of the words meanings, but when I hear this song, I always picture Preity just flitting around. Hum to bhai jaise hain from Veer Zaara. To me that has a carefree sound to it and it makes you feel like dancing. Again another song, I do not know the meaning of but when I hear it, Luka Chuppi from RDB makes me picture running through a field, laying in the grass. Jusy my opinion.

Fun idea for a thread!
I don't know if you are interested in oldies, but there are many great Kishore Kumar tunes that make me feel happy - like "Yeh dosti" from
Sholay
, "Rote hue aate hain sub" from
Muqaddar ka sikandar
, "Khaike paan" from
Don
(I prefer Kishore's version to the new version, but there's room for disagreement there), etc. etc. - basically any bombastic Kishore tune picturized on Amitabh will do the trick for me. "Humko tumse" and "Amar Akbar Anthony" from (can you guess?)
Amar Akbar Anthony
also fall into this category, though like "Yeh dosti" they are not strictly Kishore/Amitabh.
For non-oldies, two A.R. Rahman songs sung by Sukhwinder Singh come to mind - "Chaiyya chiayya" from
Dil Se
, of course, and "Rut aa gayi re" from
Earth
. If you haven't heard that latter song - it's less well known - I highly, highly recommend you check it out, it's a fantastic song.
I'm sure I could think of more if I looked through my playlists, but I will step aside and let others take over.

I know a few but I have to strongly second Shuheda's nomination for Dhadhak Dhadhak and Carla's nomination of Chaiyya Chaiyya. They really helps when you feel gloomy.
Haiyo Hikko Nikko Ni from Hote Hote Pyar Ho Gaya
is pretty upbeat but it can get on your nerves after the first few playings. My mother's all-time favorite was
Aashayein from Iqbal
.
Aaja Nachle from Monsoon Wedding
is an upper too.
Fanaa from Yuva
is peppy too and if you want something other than singing and dancing "in the rain, river, waterfall, or swing", What a Wonderful World sung by Joey Ramone really is a carefree song.

One of the first ones I thought of was Chale Jaise Hawaaen too!!
Another is from Kagaaz Ke Phool - San San San Woh Chali Hawa - it's the song that comes where GuruDutt and Waheda are motoring out to the countryside and there's a bunch of kids on a haytruck behind them.
Another is Shree 420's song of the road, the first one in the movie, Mera Joota Hai Japoni.

-I also thought of Chale Jaise Hawai from Main Hoon too!
-Yeh Fizaein from Main Hoon Na
-Title song of Salaam Namaste
-Kuch To Hua Hai from KHNH
-Mahi Ve from KHNH
-Koi Mil Gaya from KKHH
-When you mentioned the waterfall and a swing I immediately thought of Tumhe Jo Maine Dekha from MHN but that's more of a romantic song but it's not sad!
-Dil To Pagal Hai is a happy kind of song

Another one: Kasto Mazza from Parineeta, where Shekar/Saif is in the doorway of the train ascending through forest.
One that makes me feel good is Maurya Re from Don - the picturization may be a big factor, with those masses of festival celebrants, but I liked it before I saw the movie too.
Here's where I wish it were easy and not hard for people to make dvds from movies, I'd love to have my own (or your) compilation of happy songs to put on for a reliable cheering up.

I agree. These two are superb songs... real toe tappers. Other very fine happy songs are from Main Hoon Na such as Tumse Milke Dil Ka Jo Haal, Tumhe Jo Maine Dekha, Chale Jaise Haawaayein and the title track Main Hoon Na. All fun happy songs. You'll enjoy them I'm sure.

Have you seen the movie? If you haven't, I don't want to spoil it for you, but the song is in a completely different context in the movie. When I first heard the song, I also thought it was similar to what you said: running through the grass, but I think it's meant to be a sad song. It's still a really beautiful song, though!

"Rukhi thi zindagi"
from the film 'Mast'.
The song as well as the picturisation never fail to bring a smile to my face.
"Mere Hero", from the same film, has a similar effect but only upon watching the picturisation.
The melody comes across as strange when out of context.
"Meri zindagi mein chali ayi" from MPKDH is another one that can be described as carefree and happy.

That's Dilbara from Dhoom - I love it too!
Taal se Taal Mila doesn't really strike me as a happy song? In the lyrics my dance teacher gave us it was all about being weary of life and "drenched to the bone... Aish doesn't look all that bubly in the movie either.
Funny about Luka Chuppi - that's the experience I had with Roobaroo, which made that scene all the more effective for me.
Happy songs... I second Koi Mil Gaya and many ot those already mentioned
Other 'sunshine songs' for me are Kuch Naa Kaho (must be the whitsling
) and Dil Kya Kare (from S-e-I)

Yeah I saw the movie. I cannot remember the meaning of the song, and since hindi is still a language I am struggling to understand, I can still blissfully remain ignorant and run through the grass
Of course when I can finally understand all I am listening to, those days will be over. SIGH

Hamesha Tumko Chaha - Devdas
(just kidding, har)
Check out
Gungath ke adh se
from
Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar ke
, it always puts a smile on my face. And watch the picturization
here
before the YouTube patrol deletes it. Juhi at her finest.
I'm sure you have heard this one before, but
Choli ke peeche kya
hai from
Khalnayak
is a treat. I'm certain there is a Youtube video for this too, if the patrol hasn't already gotten to it.
Carla already mentioned this, but the soundtrack of
Amar Akbar Anthony
is really fun.
Ooh ooh I have another one,
Dole Bhaje
from
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam
. And definitely watch this picturization when you get the chance.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions!
How could I not remember
Hum to Bhai Jaise Hain
. It's my fav!
There's a few train songs I see. Reminded me of another one,
Baaga Ma Jab Mor Bole
. If not wrong it's Kareena on the train.
Thank you dr. khanna for reminding me of Khal Nayak and HDDCS. I remembered another,
Nimbooda
! from HDDCS. Feel like joining them in the dance!
carla, I've heard Rut aa gayi re before, (I like it!) but I've not seen it. Can't seem to find the video!
Belle, what about
Koi Ladki hai
in Dil to pagal hai? Always cheers me up! A great song I always dance to!
And thank you for the cute couple songs, and all the others!

I agree, Darshana. Wouldn't it be great?
What about songs where in the picturization, the actresses are just having fun and dancing with their friends, family, or alone?
Songs that just make you want to do the same? Run out in the open and just swirl around? Does anybody have suggestions?
For example, Aishwarya in
Taal se Taal Mila
, Kajol in
Aawara Bhawre
and
Ek Bagiya Mein
(Sapnay), Lisa Ray in
Water
,
Preity in
Hum to Bhai Jaise Hain
, Kajol in
Mere Khwaabon Mein
(DDLJ)(I love the part Kajol is on a swing), Kareena in
Khushi
, Madhuri in
Koi Ladki Hai
...

Barso Re
from
Guru
a rain-song with Aish dancing around in the mountains or something like that? IDK, I'm basing this on the teaser trailer I saw on youtube.
