For K3G:
-also hated the part where the English children sing
- the overacting was very cheesy (except for Jaya and BigB)

I thought that KHNH was good and had no parts that i hated, or found that cheesy.

I mostly like both of these movies alot, however:

K3G -
1.  I hate that the responsiblity for keeping the family together is 100% on the kids.  Rahul's father throws him out of the house, the mom and the grandmothers do nothing, and 10 years later, the younger brother goes to find him.  Even after Rahul is brought back to India, his father does not want to take him back.  There's a lot of begging and pleading, then the father said Rahul should not have left for so long.  Huh?!?!  It's still the kid's fault?
2.  Too much crying.  The only redeeming quality is that it looks fake.
3.  Kajol's character's bitchiness to her British neighbor and her unwillingness to adjust to London.
4.  Poo goes to school dressed like a prostitute and no one in her family seems to mind.

KHNH -
1.  The poison Grandma and her cruelty to Gia.  And that the reason she is given why she needs to accept the little girl is that she really is her blood relative.  So if Gia had been really an adopted child, it would have been ok for the poison Granny to be so cruel to her?!?!?
2.  Ummm.  Can't think of anything else.  KHNH is one of my favorite films....

Some scenes in K3G drag.
And most of Kareenas scenes in K3G with the exception of the ones where shes just standing still with her mouth shut looking pretty.

Kal Ho Na ho-
I overall disliked the movie. Gosh, I must be the only one on this forum but I really hated it all with the exception of songs.

In KHNH, the Grandma angle didn't bother me that much because it happens everyday. My friend's mother died in childbirth so she was raised by her uncle. However, her uncle's wife pretty much treated her like the housemaid.

Speaking of what I didn't like about KHNH, pretty much the entire Aman storyline. The Aman as the angel story, Aman and Naina falling in love (WTF?!?!), Aman and his terminal illness, running while dying and all that B.S. If they'd just let it be a Rohit-Naina story, it would have been so much better. And the worst part is they made it so obvious that Rohit was Naina's second choice and somehow at the end, we were supposed to believe she eventually fell in love with him. Yeah, really?

If Aman had to be there by any means necessary, they shouldn't have made Naina fall for him... at least, that way, the movie would have made more sense.

Yeah I agree with you that they shouldn't really have Aman and Naina falling in love, but Aman would of still had to have been in the movie or else all the SRK fans wouldn't have got to see this:

I'm generally a total sucker for Karan's emotional treacle! It's weird, mostly I'm a kind of cynical sarcastic person, maybe that's why I like it, shows another side of me...it's a bit of a love-hate though, being cynical at the same time as being sentimental.
K3G - I thought the neighbours were hilarious. I live in London and I consider myself as English and I wasn't too bothered, but it's because I found it so hard to take Kajol's character in the latter half seriously - it was like she was joking a bit with herself. She didn't have to do the whole patriotic thing, coulda really toned it down a bit. I partly hate Poo and love her the equal amount (gee, maybe I'm bipolar!). On one hand, she's so unrealistic that you want to hate her, but she's so unrealistic you don't have to take her seriously so then you can enjoy Poo in all her wonder. I also didn't like that Jaya was "the doormat" as someone said. I think her standing up for herself should have been more of a part of it, maybe even a secondary plot. Rahul runs away. Big deal. Big time wife insults very poweful husband...much more of an interesting thing which is less done. Also I HATE HATE HATE You Are My Sonia. But I really did enjoy the first half of K3G because of the feel of it, the costumes and the dancing. Who needs plot when you have looks? Well what bothered me as well was he married this girl after knowing her for how long? Two weeks? WHAT?
KHNH - I really loved the film, especially the beginning is just so great. It takes too long introducing the characters, but oh how I love it. I'm going to annoy Dil Bert and say how much I love Preity being such a cynic, not your average Bollygirl! I didn't like the will you marry me bit, and Aman was damn obnoxious...but since I like SRK I forgave him. There isn't really much I hate about KHNH, but I have the double disc DVD, and they cut out a whole sub plot which I thought would have made it much better and more funny, if longer (but I can sacrifice!).

Who uses the word "disco" without irony in this day and age?
Little 12 year olds who think they're so grown up: "Are you going to the disco this saturday?" Great song though, so funny and yet I couldn't laugh at it, I was rocking along with them!

I can't believe I forgot about the scene where Aman tells his mom about his love for Naina...That was major overacting and i'm a huge fan of SRK's...It was painful to watch when he does that weird twitch and then tries to stop sobbing..

K3G-
-Rohan and Poo's relationship there was no development basically they were still the same 10 year olds in spite of their ages
- The whole cricket scene in the beginning
- That photo of Rahul and Rohan that EVERYBODY seemed to have a copy of. Did they not have any different photos?
- Kajol i just can't explain it i usually really like her (KKHH, Baazigar, Gupt..) but in this film i just felt like ..meh
- The KKHH theme in the Suraj Hua Maddham song which was a nice song although completely random location
- Amitabh's character.. aaaagh why would Rahul and his mother love this guy so much when he will never listen to anyone else's opinion
- The little kids that sing
- All the patriotism

(has anyone noticed when Rohan and Pooja are having coffee after they've just met again the background music is the KHNH music)

KHNH-
- Preity just because she's Preity (that scream!!) have yet to like her in anything except Dil Se although i haven't seen DCH yet
- Shah Rukh's overacting, crying and his death
- lack of chemistry between Shah Rukh and Preity which i also found in Veer-Zaara (although once again they were good in Dil Se)
- And pretty much mostly everything else except the 6 din ladki in, Saif Ali Khan, Shah Rukh nonstop for 3 hours Shah Rukh n Saif scenes and Saif's parents

I'm sure that this has been posted before, but it comes to my mind every time I think about K3G:

I absolutely hated all the screaming, shouting, crying, hectic running etc etc especially in the first half when it comes to Kajol and her family. I found those mannerisms really irritating. But I liked the whole film nonetheless Tongue

I - if not hated, because I loved the film - strongly disliked the portrayal of the relationship between grandma an lil priya, and the over-the-top acting of Naina/Preity. Found that very odd and I thought it didn't match the film or the atmosphere

problems with k3g- script, story, direction, acting.. worst offender in the movie was amitabh bachhan, the whole family values bandwagon was gag inducing

problems with KHNH- not a bad movie except for srk's hamming and weepathons.. , the script should have been tweaked ( preity and saif belonged together more than srk and preity)

I think one can safely say that Karan's movies are all about gooey, exaggerated emotions, beautiful, rich people, lavish visuals, political incorrectness, plenty of weak plot points and stars, stars, stars. He never, EVER deviates from this recipe because he knows nothing else. In some ways, his movies remind me of the traditional Indian 'thali' - a large, delicious meal that incorporates all flavours, is calorie-loaded and leaves you with the feeling that you ought not to to have eaten the whole thing. If you are a picky eater, stay away!  Grin

K3G:
I don't hate anything about this film. It was my first and I was in a state of WTF for the whole time I was watching it. But I could not take my eyes away, even if it hurt (You are my Soniya!). It made me curious for more and that's why I have no desire to analyze its many flaws and forgive them all.

KHNH:
I hate it passionately from the moment Aman lies to Naina about not being in love with her/being married. The first half is funny and enjoyable the way Karan Johar films can be enjoyable, but I hate the story as it evolves. Dishonesty with loved ones garlanded as something that's "for their better" makes my skin crawl. Hated how Naina was treated like a two year old who cannot decide for herself what to do with her life. Decisions were taken for her, not by her. Hated how KJ gave his and my favorite actor such a crap role of a weepy überhuman. All in all, the emotional manipulation in this one was way beyond what I can take.

Agree with you that emotional manipulation is disgusting and unacceptable in real life. But without that first lie of Aman's, the story wouldn't have moved forward. For the sake of argument, assume he revealed the truth to Naina. She'd have gone into deep depression, fallen more in love with him and not given a thought to her own future, and certainly  not to poor Rohit who was actually, the right man for her. Aman's lie rules out the possibility of a future for them together...it also leaves the field open for Rohit to get closer to her (with Aman's help of course). Don't fret..it's just a story y'know! Wink
Yes, Karan did show some aspects of Aman which I didn't take to..reading other people's diaries, mail...WTF...but that made him less of an 'angel', more human.

Does anyone else think KHNH would have been soo much better if Kareena had taken Preity's role, even for the payment she didn't feel was enough? I think it's funny whenever someone(usually a Preity fan) says she did a great or wonderful job in the movie...In all honesty, I think she did even worse than usual Undecided And she was given the more serious role than Saif and SRK. And i also hate her scream... Tongue

All the characters are silly in both movies. Cartoons are more believably portrayal and less annoying.
I like the dog in khnh and the one grandmother in k3g only.
I don't know how this actors are believed as good.

No deep supporting local American characters in khnh.
No real local British characters in k3g.

Jokes were like you must pinch others to force them into laugh.

Rhythm of the movies is slow in last hour of k3g.All forgive all ten times repetitevely.
Same goes in khnh. All cry with all in last hour.
Story is hair tearing in both.
This is no westernisation or easternisation. This is absolute stupidasation.
