i recommend one 2 ka 4 and baadshah, they are fun( little on the cheesy side), but they have excellent music and nice picturization. Duplicate and Yess Boss are not bad at all also Smiley

Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa is delightful. You might also like Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman (though there was 1 scene w/ just a little bit of gore but nothing fatal)

Mohabbatein in Madame Tussauds!

- indiafm.com

Amitabh Bachchan was the first Indian film personality to set foot in the Madame Tussauds wax museum. After which, the crowning glory went to ex-Miss World Aishwarya Rai. And now, the honour has been bestowed upon Shah Rukh Khan. Thus, the Mohabbatein trio finds its place at the prestigious Madame Tussauds museum, London.

Madame Tussauds, a museum that immortalizes the world’s favourite celebrities by sculpting and displaying their wax statues, has planned out a grand welcome for Shah Rukh Khan. The museum has spread out a full-length poster along its dome-shaped entrance, which reads “King Khan is coming”. If that’s not all, the management has also made a 50-minute biopic in honour of Shah Rukh, which will be screened on 3rd April 2007 – the same day when his statue will be unveiled.

Wow, as I am still in my first year of Bolly addiction, this the first time that I've seen April Fools Day Bollywood style.  Quite fun, really.

Here's one from CNN-IBN, saying that Amar Singh personally invited SRK to the Aish-Abhi wedding -- and that Salman and Vivek would be guests, too!  http://www.ibnlive.com/news/vivek-salman-to-attend-ash-wedding/37460-8.html

Here's another one saying that SRK will be quitting movies to join municipal race relations council in England:
http://www.theasiannews.co.uk/news/s/225/225741_shah_rukh_khan_to_leave_bollywood_for_job_in_oldham.html

And here's one saying that Amitabh will be on the KBC hot seat and then team up with SRK in Don II:
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1840000.cms

I'm sure there's more.  Imagine!  A year ago I would not have understood why these were funny and implausible

By Nishtha Chugh
BBC Hindi service, London

The world famous Madame Tussaud's waxwork museum has unveiled its latest Bollywood superstar - Shah Rukh Khan.

Khan attended the unveiling in London on Tuesday, saying his only regret was that his mother was not alive to see her dream come true.

Khan appeared pleased with the likeness - "What I like most are my eyes," he told the BBC.

Two other Bollywood stars, Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, already have wax statues in the museum.

Relieved

"As a kid I never thought my mother's dream would come true," Khan said. "I wish she was here today to see this mannequin."

The award-winning star was accompanied by his wife, Gauri, as he entered the main hall to the thunderous rhythm of dhol drum players.

Khan appeared relieved as the statue was unveiled.

So how does he feel about his wax-double?

''I always believed I was short but my statue looks alright. But what I liked the most are my eyes.''

The principle sculptor, Stephen Mansfield, said Khan's waxwork was a real challenge.

"Shah Rukh was so particular about the hair-style of his wax-double that he kept us on our toes til the last moment.

"But personally, I feel the hardest challenge was to capture his charm, his on-screen persona."

Mansfield has also created the waxworks of Princes William and Harry, David Beckham, Tim Henman, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton to name a few.

Precise measurements

To get Khan's body language right, Mansfield watched some of his movies, including the widely-acclaimed Devdas and Don.

It took four months to finish the statue. Nearly 500 precise body measurements of the star were taken and countless layers of paint and tints were applied to build up the skin tone.

Like other works in the museum, Khan's wax double was given real hair.

Does his wife like the figure as well?

"I think she likes it more. It looks younger," he was quick to snap.

Whose wax-work would he like to see next at Madame Tussaud's? "My son Aryan's," he quipped.

Shah Rukh Khan has starred in 50 films as actor, singer and producer since he began his career.

The nose is dead on, but the wax SRK looks a bit chubby to me, especially in the chin area.  Shah Rukh has never had that chubby a chin in anything I have seen.  I wish they had worked on the lips a tiny bit more to have that smile/smirk thing he does, because they did a good job with the eyes, so I think the lips would have been dead on as well!  Oh well, it looks good enough to me; better than AB and Aish's if you ask me.

Lage Raho Shahrukh

Shahrukhism’ Ruled at this year’s Central European Bollywood Awards ceremony, as ‘Khanians’ in the heart of Europe gave Kabhi Alvida Na Kahna (KANK) seven awards out of nine nominations in 21 categories, including the best film, director, actor, supporting actor, cinematography, costume and music.

Hosted by the first pan-European International Bollywood Bloggers’ Meet in Vienna, the annual awards are announced online by molodezhnaja,

the largest German language Bollywood website since 2003.

The Vienna event was the first time that the bloggers met in person. All because of their undying love for Shahrukh, fans gave Kajol the best actress award for her role in Fanaa, as a signal to Bollywood that fans here mangein more films starring the couple. In the meantime, Shahrukh and Rani Mukherjee were voted the best jodi. The ‘Green Ladoo’ went to Dhoom 2 for the most disappointing film, followed by Umrao Jaan!

However, the results provoked many ‘boos’ from the audience. Some waved banners reading, “Avoid Yaar!” when the award to Karan Johar was announced. Barbara Skoda, 35, manager of Vienna’s School of Audio Engineering (SAE), blogger Baba aur Bollywood, a self-confessed lover of the music of both AR Rahman and Mozart, owner of 240 Bollywood movies who wanted to marry Kabir Bedi when she was 10 years old after the actor played Sandokan on Italian television, and today “lattoo” over Sanjay Dutt, said “Bleh!” when KANK was singled out for award after award.

“This is because KANK had better exposure here, playing for weeks in cinema houses across Europe, while Omkara and Rang de Basanti were publicly screened perhaps once, and Lage Raho Munna Bhai was watched mostly on DVD. If only German distributors and television stations screened more non-Shahrukh movies, the fan-base will increase and we won’t have to award only Karan Johar,” Skoda elaborated.

About 1000 Bollywood fans participated in the online voting, out of which 800 were from Europe.

Beth Watkins from the University of Illinois, USA, met European Bollywood fans in cyber space through her blog, Beth loves Bollywood, launched after she first saw Taal in 2005. She will happily help to organise any event in the future to give away awards in person, only so that she can march up to Karan Johar to say, “No, you can’t have it! Boooo!”

At the awards, attended by 20 Europeans, Beth was the only American. She shared the dance floor with Professor Elke Mader from the Institute of Cultural and Social Anthropology, Vienna University, as the volume of  Khaike paan banaras wala… was turned up to maximum.

Professor Bernhard Fuchs, from Vienna University’s Institute of European Ethnology and author of Filmi Fulmi Masti: Bollywood Makes Happy, preferred swinging to Kajrare… Placards painted with “Wah, Wah” in colourful confetti and neon ink went up after Babsi Artner, an Austrian actress, announced that she had at last won a fine role in an Indo-German film to be directed by Himesh Reshammiya.

But it is more than just masti that Europeans are getting out of Bollywood. Afraid that xenophobic elements on the continent want to cut off contact with people and cultures from other parts of the world, Professor Fuchs insists that international influences on Austrian culture are very important, “A person’s identity must be flexible. If it is not, it is totalitarianism against the self and against others. The best in human beings emerges when they interact with others different to them. Our love for Bollywood is the celebration of our capacity to be open to other cultures,” the professor said in fluent Hindi.

Professor Claus Tieber teaches film studies at Vienna University. He sold 300 copies of his book Passages to Bollywood (with a two-page foreword by Yash Chopra), within three weeks of its release in March. He remains a fan of Amitabh Bachchan, full of admiration for the actor for giving the international community a glimpse into the life of ordinary Indians like coal miners and coolies. His courses at the university include Amitabh Bachchan and films of the 1970s. He calls globalised stars like Shahrukh Khan “cultural brokers”.

To the life of Professor Mader, who teaches a course called ‘Myths and Cinema’, Shahrukh brings magic. She is not interested in whether he is a good or a bad influence; she studies the reasons for Bollywood’s extreme popularity. “Why are these people rocking to Bollywood music and not sitting like typical Viennese at an opera, or in a coffee house?” she would like to know.

Therefore, lage raho Shahrukh…as long as myth remains a mystery.

bit confusing, that last article. The awards are announced online at molodezhnaja ? What were the 20 (?!) people doing in Vienna then.

The shocking part of the article  Grin:

....who wanted to marry Kabir Bedi when she was 10 years old after the actor played Sandokan on Italian television

Kabir Bedi was Sandokan ? This was one of the first TV serials I ever watched and I wanted to marry the guy, too. I had forgotten all about Sandokan until I read this and now have to face the fact that my dream-man from when I was eight is now playing General Bakshi, commander of the Indian army, in MHN. Gulp, I'm getting old.

Right, this is the Shahrukh discussion thread and I actually came here to ask if anyone has seen that 50 min. biopic they have at Madame Tussaud's or knows if it will be...available - before I got distracted. The press does not write anything about it other than that it exists and is obviously watchable at the museum itself.

Sorry for reviving a long dead question, but I just found some new data, so here goes.   Smiley

There was quite a discussion a long time ago on whether SRK did a nude bedroom scene in Maya Memsaab, with several members  maintaining that he did, and others saying that he didn't.  SRK himself, in an old interview, had said that he was too shy to ever do a nude scene, and the effect was achieved with camera tricks.  I stayed out of the discussion at that time, because, though I remembered the scene in question, it had been a while since I had seen MM, that too on a rented copy, so couldn't provide any proof to refute the nude camp.  Anyway, now the pic has been posted at Indiafm forums: http://www.indiafm.com/forum/read.php?10,814740  To me it is obvious that he is in fact wearing some shorts, but I can also see how others would mistake it for not being there.  In any case, in the scene just moments after this, he rolls off the bed with his shorts on, at least as I remember it, so that's why I never understood why anyone thought he was nude.  Maybe it was a case of wishful thinkiing rather than close observation.   Smiley

So, anyway, for those who care, here's the proof.

I'm not sure the picture is clear enough to prove it one way or the other (if I did not know it was a cap, I'd have said someone did a bad Photoshop job to make him appear nude), but what I want to know, wannabe, dear, is what is with the photos that follow that one?!!  Shocked

Um...I could be wrong, but I don't think the guy in the shorts with the showerhead is srk...unless he's been taking steroids lately.

I guess it was clear to me because I could see an outline of shorts, which had been modified to be flesh-colored -- that may have been photoshopped by someone to make it appear as if he wasn't wearing anything.  Also, the pic jogged my memory of the scene (it is  now several years since I have seen it), and confirmed my memory that he was wearing shorts, so I saw it as "proof".

As for the film itself, it was interesting, but I felt that it failed in adapting the story to an Indian setting, which it had started to do very promisingly.  But I still liked it, because it introduced me to Ketan Mehta's work.

Yes, I knew this film had been discussed in the "lesser known films" thread, but I couldn't remember if any conclusion had been reached.  Sorry for  not checking it.

And Sam, about those photos at Indiafm -- ahem!  They waste too much bandwidth on members' sigs, IMO.
