Problem accessing your PMs? NEW MEMBERS, PLEASE READ

You need to have posted 25 messages before you can send or read PMs (private messages).

We do this because it deters enterprising sorts from registering simply to spam you with news about their delightful products. 

(Lest you be tempted to speed your way to 26 posts, please keep in mind that per the registration letter you received, and the forum rules you agreed to follow in order to have your account activated, we do not allow one-liners.  Anyone using the forum as a chatroom will be warned, and then will have their account suspended.)

Once you've got 26 messages under your belt, check out the User Info box at the top of your screen.  Your avatar, if you've selected one, will be on the left side of this box.  The first line of text in this box reads, "Hey, (Username), you have __ messages, __ are new."

Click, in your User Info box, on the part of the text which I have made red for the purpose of these instructions, and you'll be in your PM box.

This explains it. I suppose I shall simply have to wait it out, posting once or twice a week, until, a couple of months from now - hurrah! - I will be able to read my PMs.

So that explains it!  I got an email notification that I had a PM, but couldn't find the link to get to my inbox to reply to it.  The barrier is a good idea to be certain (in theroy at least... anything that cuts down on spammers is a good idea!).  But I can see it leading to some seriously OT posts that would be much better kept between the participants.  Anyway, if the member who sent me the PM is listening:
"Thanks, that's what I figured.  Which is why I replied the way I did."

Thanks for that. I too was getting in a bit of a panic, as I couldn't check my PM when the pop up appeared telling me I had received one. Okay, so I'm 22 posts in now, if we include this one (hopefully, we can?).

I asked this on my introductory thread. (Not in the first post, in a reply.)

I wish the FAQ was a bit easier to find. Like the PM help said there's a link on the user's profile!

Now I know better but feel stupid for asking something already been answered. (But still not as stupid as I felt when I thought I could PM but just couldn't find it.)
