I thought there was a huge thread on Shreya Ghoshal but can't find it.  Maybe it was on the old board.

I came across these very old videos of Shreya when she first came on the show, SRGM.  She is about 11 years old.  It was on this show that Sanjay Leela Bhansali admired her talent and took her for Devdas.

Yea she is terrific Cheesy
I really like her voice, and the kinds of songs she chooses to do in general.
I have seen a few interviews with her on my Hindi TV channels and she seems lovely too (I know you can't tell a lot about peoples' personalities from televised interviews...but still, some sense of how they are comes across even in the most rehearsed settings I think.)

Shreya is one of the best versatile singers we have today (looking at the last few different songs shes done in the last year) I was never a fan of her untill I saw her live in concert last year and she was fantastic, quite a perfomer I didnt realize she sang in other languages as well. she seems a nice personality and sincere I follow her on Twitter and is she quite good connecting with fans. I heard this song whilst on youtube and it compels me to say she may be the next Lata!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiaBUkBModM

Shreya is amazing, she really is. I've listened to her live and the quality of her voice is just so perfect. She also seems down-to-earth and not too media-oriented, in the tradition of old-school playback singers.

I always was more of a Sunidhi Chauhan fan though, but Sunidhi hasn't really been choosing songs well lately, or maybe music directors have associated her with uptempo/"item" songs, so she isn't getting the songs that go to Shreya Ghoshal ... and isn't able to showcase her versatility that well. I don't know.

Shreya Ghoshal's Tamil and Kannada songs are also very nice, I've read that she was able to manage the accent all right, not an easy feat. I love her Munbe Vaa from Sillunu Oru Kadhal by AR Rahman

I envy you so much right now!! Shreya is no doubt my favorite singer, both for her vocal quality and the sheer number of wonderful songs she has done.  Of course there are other female singers who rival her in skill, but you can't deny that she gets a good bulk of the good songs these days.  Wink  Also, to me her voice is a perfect combination of old school sweetness, and modernity (which I basically equate with an absence of the shrieky dog-whistle pitch prevalent 70's -- early 2000's in female singers)
I was just listening to Silsila Ye Chaahat Ka -- so beautiful.  She was only 16 when she sung it!
