I have just finished Inferno and it is the same formula only this time he crammed a bit more into it and tried a different ending. Now it is nowhere as good as Angels & Demons or Da Vinci Code (which are basically the same book) but it is still entertaining and I think will make a nice airport book.

The Poor Man's Pop StarIn an extraordinary moment of serendipity, Mithun Chakraborty—1980s’ disco king, forgotten failure, Elvis-impersonator, pop comet, poor man’s Amitabh Bachchan, auto-rickshaw driver’s hero, thrice National award-winner, successful hotelier, super-spy Gunmaster G-9, object of urban ridicule, pelvic thrust expert, exceptional character actor and a star with mass appeal—is experiencing a sort of rebirth, thanks to filmmakers and writers from small town India who were raised on the ‘Mithunda brand of B-movies.’
In the last decade, this man of many sobriquets has staged a spectacular comeback into the consciousness of not only those who came of age in the 1980s, but also those among modern, educated, urban audiences who had perhaps never heard of him. Without our realising it, he is in our lives more than ever before—doing a Golmaal 3 and Housefull 2 here, and a Dance India Dance there. Senior movie journalist Rauf Ahmed describes Mithun as a rare combination of action hero and dancing sensation. “There was a Shammi Kapoor hangover in his dancing style, without the good looks,” he says. At 62, Mithun can still convincingly swing a punch and shake a leg. And instead of slowing down, he is becoming ever more prolific.

Devdas (1955) Boooorrrinng! I have liked what I've seen of Dilip Kumar in song clips and such, but his was the whiniest, most self absorbed and least interesting Devdas yet. The two ladies were fairly good but not enough to save it. Didn't like the music either. At least it made me appreciate SLB's version a lot more.

Romantics Anonymous and Nothing To Declare(both France, both 2010, both starring Benoit Poelvoorde)
RA - A nice enough RomCom, which gets bonus points for including copious amounts of chocolate, and a pretty funny slow-motion stalking scene.
NTD - More farce than comedy, but it had its moments. I can't forgive it for the horrible/stupid anti-Asian scene at the very end, though.

I am in the middle of feeling stunned and poleaxed. I have been at this store for 16 years doing readings 3 afternoons a week. I have a loyal clientele, bring the store in business, give a fair amount of money for commissions etc.
The store itself has never done well. The last owner was very badly in debt when she sold to the current one last year. She pretty much lied about how things were etc. So the new one is getting quite an education. It is a recovery/new age store. We sell chips, AA books, have meeting, readers and self help stuff.
I was still doing good however, actually better than the store, when I was getting ready to leave this morning when she called and said that the store energy is not flowing, and she had talked to a curendara ( Hispanic witch/shaman) who announced to make the store successful she had to get rid of the kind of store it is and change the focus and get rid of anybody who was there before she bought it (me) to clear the energy. I was blocking new energy coming in.
She wants to do ionic cleanses, and stuff that is pretty way out there. The Secret is her bible. If anything happens to you it is your fault and I have had several talkings to that I should find out the cause of my leg hurting and why I don't want to move forward in life. Classic Louise Hay. I told her last week she had it backwards. I had injured my back and leg badly enough when young that I was supposed to have steel rods up my back and be in a wheelchair by 40. At 62 I have a stiff leg and my knee hurts depending on what I have done. It is hurting a bit today but I spent the other day walking up and down hills at the Royal Gorge. But it is not in alignment and will never be. No new age thinking on earth can fix a misaligned bone. I have fought hard to be able to walk as well as I do. I even did belly dancing for 10 years.
I am ranting, but so confused how someone could think this way. But the bottom line is there is a new girl who has been talking to her a LOT and wants my afternoons. She talks to angels. Also I still charge the "old" rate I always have. The new people are charging a lot more than me. I had one once yell at me that I was undercutting her. At the time, she had been there a week, a me 14 years. She didn't last.
I suppose it will give me time this next month for cleaning and clearing the house. My husband isn't doing very well and my sister retired and we had always planned on someday her living here, so it is time.

bwahaha, love both captions, Dariya! (But especially the Rekha/Shabana one ) (I hope the OUATIMA guys get a chance to do some youtube-able publicity stuff while Sonakshi is otherwise occupied, preferably early in the promo cycle before Akki's jet lag and back problems reduce him to near-zombie status...they've spoken very well of each other in print interviews, and seem like good "bromantic" partners.)

Dang. Pure, unadulterated fugly without the OTT charm of bad fashion from the 90s/00s era in desi films.
